We will beat Aussies at home: Srinivasan

Cricket Spectator
Chennai: As India's disastrous performance in Test series against Australia has drawn flak from all quarters, BCCI president N Srinivasan came out with a bizarre defence of the team saying all top teams would lose when they play on Indian soil.
"England won 5-0 in England. They came here within a month or two and they lost 5-0. Last time, after our loss to England, I had said that we will beat them when they visit India," Srinivasan tried to defend the team's dismal overseas performance in the past one year which has seen Dhoni and Co lose seven consecutive Tests.
Srinivasan reasoned that Australia did well as they used home conditions to good effect.
"It is a case of Australians played better in their home conditions," he added.
The BCCI president who is also the owner of IPL team Chennai Super Kings feels that once India plays and beats teams like New Zealand, England and Australia in coming months, everyone will "feel very happy."
"Next New Zealand is coming to India and it will be followed by England and Australia. We will beat these three teams on our own soil. They cannot beat us here and we will feel very happy."

If this is the attitude of BCCI towards cricket then God help India...

"Hey, listen up Aussies! We have officially given up this tour!"

"Also, what's the difference between Tests and ODIs?"

Inspiring

I don't recall winning 5-0, or playing Tests in India.

This is the guy who's in charge? Good luck...

Hate Srinivasan so much. Moron.

Rajeev Shukla's (who is a VP and equal moron) reaction was equally strange. He seemed to be giving the interview only as IPL chairman and not bothered about anything else.

For all his flaws the BCCI was much better when, Lalit Modi was there and running shop in so many areas.

hahaha,

I Butt and N Srinivasan are walking together when they come upon a big pile of manure. Butt goes to Sri, “I will bet you a 1000 rupees that I can eat all of this crap.” Sri agrees, so Butt eats the entire pile and wins the 1000.

They walk on and after some time come across another pile of manure. This time Sri bets Butt that he too can eat the whole pile for 1000 rupees. Butt agrees and Sri eats the entire pile and wins the bet.

They walk on again. After a while Butt says to Sri, “Do you realize that we just ate a whole pile of manure for nothing?

to be fair this has been their 'strategy' for a long time....it's just that no one has stated it publicly in such an explicit fashion like this moron did...

Not really. Modi just acted like a professional. Only difference is with this guy doing the talking, the BCCI's incompetence is being shown off in its entirety.

Who even is this guy? I've never heard of him. Did he play cricket in some form, or is he just some fatcat politician? Doesn't sound too bright tbh.

An alumnus of the same charm school as Ijaz Butt, clearly.

As much as i hate him, don't think he is a Ijaz Butt, tbf.

He is just overwhelmingly arrogant and opaque most of the time.(Thinks he is too clever and all others are fools,IMO.)
Also Runs a almost billion dollar(?) company in India Cements as MD.

This is the same guy who was about to pull India's squad from the '07 twenty20 WC because it was a joke format only to be told by the ICC to stop being a ****, right?

lol this dumbass is still alive? Is't he like 70 something? This guy's an idiot, wouldn't read too much into what he says.

Also he's the one who got the pitch changed in the IPL match vs R Royals when Chennai played right?

The BCCI as a whole was a lot more open those days though, with Modi there. Even the selectors used to have press conferences and the whole board as such was more answerable.(Don't know how much down to him being one the VP's and Pawar being the nominal head that was though.)

He was also a lot more proactive than anyone there presently in terms of every area. Right from TV rights, Cricket academies, to building of grounds or even taking out the rivals in Jagmohan Dalmiya(:p). Most of the rest of them are not really interested in making any sort of change until pushed to do so, or not interested in doing anything dynamic or long term.
Modi did a pretty good job at the Rajasthan Cricket association too, which showed in their Ranji trophy triumph last season.

Edit - Not to forget him creating the IPL and IPL brand almost single handedly too.

Haha. The BCCI doesn't consider it a sport anymore. Send your employees on holiday abroad, expect them to complete revenge home ODI wins, overall fans will "feel very happy". IPL is the real sport.

Not what you want to hear as a fan of India from someone so high up in the BCCI, I bet if it's left to this guy there isn't going to be many changes to the team.
