Australia cricketers ability to come back as better players

Could this be because of the $ available from shorter formats of the game?
Sadly yes.

I remember people like Tamim Iqbal and Umar Akmal are quite distraught at not being able to play in the IPL..they've barely established themselves as good cricketers..forget about great..and its like whats most important them is getting a chance to play in the IPL rather than averaging 50 in test cricket.

Its also goes down through grade cricket and it's the same in the various types of football that is played as the winter sport.

You perform well, you go up a grade, if you don't perform well you can be dropped a grade.

The system is set up so the best can get to the top but that also means there is always pressure in order to stay there.

If someone comes up, someone goes down and they need to improve to get back up.

It is no shame to get dropped and then work your way back. It goes on all the time, at all levels.

The anger at the previous Australian selectors wasn't just because of the poor selections, it was due to the ignoring of the system by persisting with poorly performing players. Not giving them a chance to regain some form at a lower level, ( which also means players at that level have to compete a higher standard, lifting the own game) while denying players at the lower level the opportunity of a chance at the top level.

This resulted in a perception of a "talent drought" when it was simply a subversion of the normal system.
This typifies what i have been saying all along. There is this believe that all the wicketkeepers in south africa are crap, therefore Boucher must play regardless. The Australians improve because they hate losing. Once upon a time we had that believe. Heck clive eksteen never played for South africa because he was mentaly weak. The sub continent players are all chasing money. But who can blame them? The people running their boards are corrupt and under pay them. Akmal and the like have adopted a get rich or die trying approach.

The problem with Pakistan is nepotism. If players like Fart and Malik keep getting picked, no wonder why youngsters give up hope. Look at Fawad Alam, he is a domestic run machine but isn't being picked for the 15 man squad.

I would like to see Ahmad Shehzad, Umar Amin and Talha make a comeback. Shehzad is really talented but only problem is his attitude (worse than Kohli).

Has to be the best in the world.

Langer, Hayden, Martyn, Katich and even Clarke were all dropped they worked on their game and made strong comebacks in this series Hilf is another guy whose making a comeback and is already looking excellent. If you look at sub cont cricketers majority of them just stagnate and even when they are dropped they hardly make an effort to work on their game and keep failing in the same manner Sami, Yuvraj, Wasim Jaffar, Imran Farhat, Irfan Pathean and several other are prime examples.

It would not surprise me if Johnson and Steve Smith come back as Wasim and Warne reincarnated.
Yeah nice

Another great example: Matthew Wade. Too bad the selectors are arse.

Can you imagine if Hayden, Langer, Waugh, Clarke, Martyn etc. never got given a second chance?

I'm pretty sure Wade did get a second chance. It's the third chance he's not getting.

In fairness though who do you drop in the Test side remembering you need to slot in Warner and Smith too? Agree he should be picked instead of Carey at ODI level.

He definitely meant that he'd come back as an ATG leg spinner though. Would say it's an A- at best.
