Paine is the ideal choice but since he is injured, the next would be Wade
Paine the ideal choice? Any justification for this? The total absence of a decent first class record compared to his competitors, and the fact he has hardly played a game in the past two years are two pretty big black marks against his name.

Sooner rather than later as far as Australia are concerned. Batting has gone to pot, glovework never been great. Surprised there isn't a better option out there, whoever replaces him will need to be given a fair crack at it though not just 2 or 3 matches.

Peter Nevill (FC average of 50) and Matthew Wade (FC average of 40) could almost warrant selection based upon their batting alone, especially considering we have men like Marsh (38), Bailey (39), Cowan (38), Christian (30), Ferguson (35) in contention for (or in Marsh's and Cowan's cases, are actually in) the test side. Although outlandish, I think don't think it'd the worst idea, depending if our batting stocks don't improve within the next few years, for both of these blokes to come into the XI and alternate the keeping between innings.

If Wade and Nevill are both in the side then Nevill should always be keeping, tbh.

Can see Wade and Paine both playing in the same side in the future to be honest.

Anyway, it's a lock that the selectors are waiting for Paine to come back to fitness before pensioning off Haddin. Wade might make it as a specialist bat post-Ponting/Hussey anyway.

Haddin's time must definitely be up by now. Quite a straightforward drop just now, at such a crucial moment, and he didn't even score any runs in Australia's innings.

Wade for Perth and Adelaide.

a source close to me just informed me that Wade would have dropped that catch too

This evenings drop was simply inexcusible. Made a total meal of a very simple chance.

If it was a once-off, and he was in the middle of a decent run of form with both bat and gloves then you could stick by him, however this is the latest in a string of very disappointing displays from Haddin.

I cannot recall the last time the Australian selectors dropped a keeper for poor display with the gloves, however the time must surely come as he no longer justifies selection. Haddin has been a good replacement for Gilchrist, however at 34 and with moderate returns throughout his career, I see no reason why we cannot commence selecting other glovemen.

Have given him a standing ovation for everything he's done in the BBL this summer (which admittedly has been little).

Two things will save Haddin's bacon, namely the annointed one is not available yet. Make no mistake, they see Paine as not only next in line to take the gloves but as a future leader. Second, this panel loves the old boys and finds it very hard to put them out to pasture. Put simply, the change should be made - indeed it's one of the more straightforward, easier changes to make in the sense that Haddin is really struggling, and he's not in the "undroppable legend" category into which they seem to have bracketed Hussey and Ponting - but won't be.

I would have thought that picking someone like Matthew Wade would be a completely logical move to ensure that our team is not an ageing one again. Despite all our recent changes, I wouldn't say we've got a young team and having your 4-7 with plenty of experience is not needed just for the sake of experience.

Wade in, Haddin out. I think Wade's keeping is underrated, I never see him or read about him dropping catches of a pace bowler..
