What about this Kurtis Patterson who scored a 150 on debut for NSW at the back end of November? Heard much about him?

Cameron Bancroft has played for WA as well.

Blues batsman Kurtis Patterson becomes youngest batsman to score a first-class century at SCG

Kurtis Patterson. Remember the name. The 18-year-old New South Wales batsman became the youngest batsman ever to score a first-class century on his debut during the Blues’ Sheffield Shield game against Western Australia.

What was most remarkable about Patterson’s 157 at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Saturday was the carefree abandon with which he played after coming in with the score at 164 for four. His innings took just 189 balls, with the last 55 runs coming in just 26 balls as New South Wales declared on 441 for six in reply to Western Australia’s 150 all out.

At 18 years and 206 days, the left-hander became the youngest ever Australia to record a century in his maiden first-class match, breaking the record of Barry Shepherd by 35 days.

Shepherd, who scored his debut century for Western Australia in 1955-56, went on to play nine Tests, and Patterson is already being tipped for great things on the strength of this innings. “Kurtis Patterson looks like a future Australian player,” tweeted respected broadcaster Jim Maxwell.

Although he was facing a depleted Western Australia attack, with Mitchell Johnson injured and Michael Beer on duty with Australia A, Shepherd has been identified as a batsman of some promise for some time now. He was selected for the Australia under-18 talent squad two years running, and became part of the under-19 squad earlier this year, scoring a century against the West Indies in a youth ‘Test’ in Dubai in April.

A tall, powerful batsman who is outstanding on the drive, Shepherd comes from good sporting stock, with his father Brad playing grade cricket for Northern District and Sydney University.

But he told the Sydney Morning Herald: “I realised from the time Kurtis was about 12 or 13 that he was going to be a lot better than I ever was. All I did for him was give him the basics of the game and he’s kicked on from that.”

Supported by Simon Katich, a man twice his age at 36, Patterson showed great character to go on to his century after being hit on the back of his helmet on 84. Katich was eventually dismissed for 125 after a partnership of 221.

In scoring a century on his New South Wales debut, Patterson joined an illustrious list, including Archie Jackson, Arthur Morris, Doug Walters and an unflappable 19-year-old from Bowral called Donald Bradman.

Good for Quinton stepping up in the big game. Then allowing our strong bowling attack to dominate.

Great stuff. It seems there is still a lot of talent in Pakistan. Babar Azam has been great. A future opening bat for Pakistan for sure.

Quite strange South Africa didn't play their strongest attack with Rabian Engelbrecht, Jan Frylinck & Corne Dry all not playing. Calvin Savage also missed the whole series basically with an injury.

But it was a good set of results and 17 players were given opportunities to impress ahead of the WC.

Bangladesh has won the series against England 4-2,1 game to go,should be noted that Bangladesh rotated their squad throughout the whole series.
Bangladesh to win the World Youth Cup?

Bangladesh to win the World Youth Cup?
Bangladesh have always had good u19 sides but ultimately they choke when under pressure in the World Cup.
They are very tough to beat at home, and we've just seen what the senior England side are like in subcontinent conditions, so England never really had a chance of winning this series, even with Bangladesh rotating their players every game.
To truly test this Bangladesh side, I'd like to see how they would cope in England or SA in seaming conditions. They have some very promising batsmen but their bowling strength still lies in their spinners.
