Is Marchant de Lange the new Vernon Philander?

Great to see so many youngsters performing, especially comparing them with eachother and not past heroes. Reckon ball will dominate bat in the next decade.

Pity what happened with Amir as he could have been part of the ever growing list.

Would be great if the ball does have more of a say like it did in the 90's.

Do you think Amir would have been the best of the new comers?
Tough to say but he did have a lot of potential. Wanted to see more of him when he couldn't get that conventional swing he got in England and New Zealand and see how he dealt with that.

Interesting you say that because his average is really high if you take those 2 series away.

Yeah, but he couldn't bring the ball back in to the right hander before NZ. He improved a lot very quickly.

And yeah, Finn is amazing. The speed increase was just wow.

Yeah but he was still only young though and played 4 series so its difficult to read too much into the stats as they are.

But for arguments sake...

In Sri Lanka: 6 wkts @ 43.50
In New Zealand: 7wkts @ 43.71
In Australia: 19 wkts @ 29.89
in England: 19 wkts @ 18.36

Just wanted to see for instance if he couldn't get that swing into the RHB, would he rely just on the slant across him or could he rough up a batsman as his development came along and he got stronger for instance.
