What should be the criteria to judge the greatest cricketer ever

I always suspected it was Fred Martin, and I'm so glad that finally someone else does too.

I am quite intrigued to find out whether Barnes ever did bowl to Bradman, or at least what was his views on Don's batting. This is keeping in mind that Barnes was Jengis Khan of the pricks.

At the risk of making this thread serious, does a ridiculously high batting average provide enough cover for not doing the other half of the sport?

I tend to hesitate on calling Bradman the greatest cricketer ever for that reason.
