Indeed. Should be replaced by the ever test class Atul Sharma.
We miss you, Fardin. :(. RIP.

    He's a good cricketer. He's not a wizard.

Sanga isn't the best off spinner in the history of cricket? News to me.

Moreover, he can earn some more money playing test cricket. That should be a big allurement for such a poor man.
And smalishah's avatar is the most classy one by far Jan certainly echoes the sentiments of CW

Yeah we don't crap in the first world; most of us would actually have no idea what that was emanating from Ajmal's backside. Why isn't it roses and rainbows like what happens here? PEWS's retort to Ganeshran on Daemon's picture depicting Ajmal's excreta

One does not have to be a wizard to figure out the right time to bow out. He said in an interview last year - "I am happy, not satisfied". When he is content with his achievements, and feels there is nothing more to play for, he will hang up his boots. SRT will not need to be forced out.

What if he declines to a point where he's not Test standard before he is content with his achievements?

Irrelevant. He's not going to get dropped.

He has been our best batsman for the last 2,3,5 and even 10 years. Even this year where he in poor form (after a mediocre tour to England), he has managed to average 46 odd.

International class test batsmen are hard to come by. We have still not replaced ganguly who retired from tests 3 years ago. Replacing Sachin is a distant goal. IMO he will play till 2012 end, unless the tour down under goes horribly wrong

No, that's irrelevant to my point.

Whether or not he gets dropped has no real bearing on whether or not he'd know when it was time to "drop himself" so to speak.

Even aside from the obvious point that no Indian selector is going to want to be perceived as having Sachin's scalp hanging from his belt, he's still patently in the best six batsmen in India.

The 100 100s thing gets on my tits tho. It's a completely meaningless and made up milestone. When have statisticians ever added ODI & test centuries together?

    - As featured in The Independent.

"The committee discussed the issue of illegal bowling actions, and believed that there are a number of bowlers currently employing suspect actions in international cricket, and that the ICC's reporting and testing procedures are not adequately scrutinising these bowlers."
    - Even the ICC's own official press release thinks things must change
