so McGrath hasn't watched a test match between anyone other than England and Aust for awhile eh?

just read the piece. just cannot fathom how anderson, excellent though he might be at times, is a patch on steyn. one is very good and could possibly become great if he bowls like he is capable for another couple of years, while the other is, or is close to being, an all time great bowler.

It's a different thing to say Anderson is your favourite bowler and a completely different thing to say he's a better bowler than Steyn. Hadlee's a bit ****ed in the head imo.

To put andersons mediocre ability into it's obvious context is like blasphemy around here, he is near the top of a very very ordinary bunch, and that ASIf/amir are not on the scene has made it easier for him.

Disagree. He's not 'mediocre'.

When we are talking in this context with some of the best bowlers ever he is positively mediocre!!!
but they are not saying that he compares to the all time greats. they are just saying that he is the best at this moment.

Loving Ambrose's description of Akram.

Do agree with him that Akram could make the ball talk in ways that few (if any) could match. Coming from Curtly that is a lot of praise.

Also was surprised to see McGrath talking about Akram. Hadn't heard that before.

Dennis Lillee has always maintained that Andy Roberts is his favorite fast bowler. Good to see that Lillee is also in the list of Roberts' favorites.

Both Ambrose and McGrath picked each other plus Akram. Would be my picks too - in the time I've been watching. Them plus Donald.

Hadlee does little to dispel the notion that he is stat obsessed :p. Only bowler to even mention stats. Though tbf he used it as an example of him picking someone despite stats.
