Should M. Amir become a mercenary?

Now his reputation is shot to pieces, should he use his ban to spend time in (Ireland) some other country with a dearth of fast bowlers and gain eligibility? Idea behind this is that after his ban Pakistan will likely ignore him.

Forgetting how reprehensable this seems, which nation would you most like to see the guy hire himself to?

As if Pakistan won't select him straight away after his ban is up. They'd play him tomorrow if they could.

India would take him. (In bollywood, that is till then)

In any case Pakistan are not likely to ignore him at all, if he is eligible.

As if England would leave any foreign eligible(or even a decent Irish) player for Ireland.:p

5 yrs is a long time without any competitive cricket and we are not even considering the mental sides of things looks next to impossible he will come back as the same bowler.

His academy coach has already told him once he returns from the prison he will hide him from the media glare and take the responsibility of keeping him bowling fit for the next 4 years. I reckon once his ban is over he will be allowed to play domestic cricket and if he is still guns it for a season he will be back straight away.

He's only serving 5 months or something

I reckon SL would snap him up in a heartbeat, they are desperate and corrupt enough.
We could probably do with a bowler of his calibre tbh. Very unlikely that SLC would make a move as bold as that unless there is money to be earned or something.

What does he have to do during his ban to become eligible for Ireland and what for England?

In any case, meant it the other way round.
He'd have to live and work in the UK for 5 yeaes before he was eligible to apply for UK citizenship.

He'd need to drink 3 pints of Guiness before before becoming an automatic Irish citizen.
