I can see why people in Australia are excited about him, but theres no way this guy is ready to play test cricket. Nor is he really likely to be any good outside of this pitch and maybe a couple of pitches in Australia at the moment till he works on his action and learns other skills. He's 6'3 not 6'9, the only weapon he has at the moment is all out pace, which to be honest is not the worst thing for an 18 year old but lets not get carried away by the fact that he was pretty ordinary out there.

Cummins bowled with good pace and bounce yesterday. He swung a few balls back into the left hander and he managed to get some seam assistance from the pitch as well. I honestly don't why people are saying he doesn't get any sideways movement as they have barely even seen enough of him to make that judgement. I've seen him shape the ball away from the right handers when bowling back in Australia but he'll struggle to move it both ways unless he fixes that seam position, IMO. |
