Done really well here these two. Clarke's battled hard and is now getting some rewards for his efforts with some loose stuff from Kallis. He's gone along quickly now to 40 off 47 balls.

I find it astonishing the Fox Sports blokes in the studio can watch a replay of Ponting smashing his pad before the ball hits him and wonder why he looks pissed off as he walks off.

IT'S BECAUSE HE THOUGHT HE HIT THE BALL WHEN HE HIT HIS PAD, YOU STUPID ****S.

Anyone else think Kallis with hair has a resemblance to this chap?
Kallis' hair is the secret of his power. A solid, underrated effort for years. Beginning to recede around 2008, before this tremendous addendum appeared a couple of years ago.

Trott is better technically, I do think Cook just finds a way to score runs, it mightn't be pretty, but he finds his way of doing it. He does have technical issues, but reckon he has the right mental strength to just work with them and find a way of not getting them exposed, rather than changing his style to eradicate the problems.

Think a lot of teams struggle against top quality bowling in the right conditions.
It is funny how guys who have previously had technical issues against decent bowling suddenly find ways to overcome them when they're facing poor bowling. Cook might have found a way around his technical deficiencies...but scoring runs against the poo we served up hasn't really proven anything one way or the other.

The fact is there are some very poor attacks going around at the moment. Makes it hard to judge the batsmen at times. They can only really score runs against the attacks they're given. Cook is a pretty determined bloke, that's for sure. Still reckon he'll nick out more often than not in the corridor, if anyone can actually manage to bowl there consistently. He makes a bowler get it in the right area before they're a threat though, which is to his credit.

Marsh has done a great job of blocking an end. Will probably start scoring more freely after a while. Really surprising to see him do so well at Test level.

Caught up on the posts and watched the replays of the wickets, but not the no doubt tight bowling around it, major disappoint. The 3 guys who you'd get short odds on falling quickly, did. The 3 blokes you'd rate right now 2 are there doing the job and one to come.

325 will be gold. Johnson to get runs and wickets.

Sprays them a lot for a man with his record, does Steyn. It's remarkable. It's like he's a miniature, right handed Johnson sometimes, but with a lot more ability.
Steyn tends to spray them around when he is rusty. Certainly been a culprit of it today after a huge break and also was a guilty of doing the same thing in the 2009 series, when he had a lengthy break.
