Since I'm bored and there's not been a lot of discussion in here lately, how about a fun draft.
For this draft, I am choosing to define the modern era as the era in which Sachin Tendulkar has played. Therefore, there are two simple rules to determine a players' eligibility for this draft:
1. Players picked in this draft must have made their Test debut on the same day, or after the day when Sachin Tendulkar made his Test debut.
Now I know what you're thinking - that takes out players like Steve Waugh, Wasim Akram and Curtley Ambrose who were giants of the 1990s. Hence rule number 2:
2. A player is also eligible for selection should they have played against Sachin Tendulkar in Test cricket post World Cup 1992, or as a team-mate of Tendulkar's in Test Cricket post 1996 World Cup.
The reason for these dates is to eliminate the likes of Imran Khan, Allan Border and Viv Richards who aren't really part of the "modern era" and who just happen to have a slight career overlap with Tendulkar because Tendulkar has been playing Test cricket for so long.
Maximum of 8 players in order to retain a degree of quality control. 12 rounds, I'm open to suggestion in terms of whether it should just be a random order for all odd numbered rounds, with the order reversed for even numbered rounds, or if an alternate system should be in place.
When making a selection, please provide a link to the players' cricinfo profile to verify when he made his Test debut or a scorecard to verify that the player has faced Tendulkar in a Test match.
