Worst ODI batsman in 2000s

Noble One

International Vice-Captain
Chamara Kapugedara is the one IMO. I'm talking about specialist ODI batsman not all-rounders.

Read an article written by a Sri Lankan this morning. It said:

"Kapugedara, despite his talent has been disastrous with the bat in his 87-match ODI career and the tag “the more he fails the more he plays and the more he plays the more he fails” suits him perfectly."

Has to be Kapugedara. 80+ ODIs LOL what a perennial failure
Made your point yet?

I agree though. Kapugedara always appears close to cracking international cricket. That time has yet to come though, and you wonder how much leash the Sri Lanka selectors will continue to provide to an undoubtably talented cricketer.

Michael Vaughan has to be a good shout, especially considering his exploits in the whites?

Migara

Cricketer Of The Year
1. Chamara Kapugedara
2. Jehan Mubarak (he played one or two backs to the wall innings, so Kapugedara takes the lead)
3. Mohammad Ashraful

Harsh on Sinclair and Rudolph, IMO. Sinclair scored two centuries, and Rudolph averaged a respectable 35.57.

Sinclair isn't even the worst ODI batsman from New Zealand.

Daniel Flynn is another good shout. Stone walled his way to an average of 14. Champion.

Yeah Kapugedara was probably one of the worst. Was in the team on talent alone. There are a few names from less stronger teams which would also probably feature.

But Rudolph's strike rate is not so Appealing....68 for a modern day batsmen is not doing any good for the team. :p

U19 Captain
UAE qualified for a one day competition about 8 years ago. Can't remember the captains name but Geoff Boycott was on comentary and said "can't bat, can't bowl, and not a lot of good in the field"
