I think having a massive grass picnic area for lunch rather than sitting squashed in your seat or in the undercover passages under the stands is a major plus for Lords. The views are all great too. Also, you can take in alcohol which I think is really spectator friendly!

The seats are too tiny (though that's a problem everywhere). My Mum was sat next to a massive bloke the other day who took up one and a half seats - luckily she's really skinny, but people like that should have to pay for an extra seat IMO! Only other gripe I can think of - which I'm sure more forum members on here aren't concerned over - more ladies toilets needed for T20s!

    Really??

A throw back to the days when you could take in alcohol to the SCG - 1 case maximum though...

Yeah. There's a picnic area just outside the field of play, everyone brings baskets of alcolols and food and leaves them there for the morning session. Then they come out and munch sandwiches and drink beer during the lunch break. It's ridiculously glorious.

Yep, they managed to negotiate an exemption from the ICC (or is it ECB?) rules somehow. It's a bottle of wine each, can't remember the beer, GIMH told me the other day but beer without curry is yuck so I forgot again .

So you can't sit there sinking tins and watching the game?

Only on the big screen. And as a bonus, during the lunch break you can watch replays of the Adelaide test last winter.

Cricket isn't played in Adelaide during winter.

I drank the alcohol I took in with me at my seat. Was I not supposed to?

Shouldn't you be off playing Sri Lanka in another ODI series next month or something. Been a while

I haven't personally, but both my kids have, to see Test matches, and we're all agreed that the Oval has a more enjoyable atmosphere for what we're looking for in terms of a cricket environment.

I'm more disappointed that the Oval just got an ODI, and not a Test. I really couldn't care less if Lords got a WI Test or not. But we all thoroughly enjoyed the international between England and WIndies that we last saw at the Oval.

I've not yet been to the Oval so I can't really compare the two.

Just go to Lord's. I hold London's upper-class toff culture in just as much contempt as you do and I still thought it was the best place ever.

Haha, not quite. That's where you go for a more sinister angle on England's imperial history.
