Should Afridi come back as a Test bowler?

Should Afridi come back as a test bowler?? the problem is before he was being used as a allrounder for test matches, and that obviously didn't work, because he can't really bat at the test level, but why not use him just as a bowler?? he is clearly a wicket taking bowler

He cannot be included in a Test team as a specialist spinner, because he is not capable of maintaining consistent line and length for long spells.Performing in ODIs is another matter

As much as I'd love to see him in the Test Arena, I have to admit it wouldn't do Pakistan any good.

I don't have an issue with his line and length. The thing is that for Afridi to get wickets,he needs the opposition to attack him.He isn't the type of bowler who can make things happen. He relies on the batsman to go after him, where he ends up conning them.I would love it if he comes back into Test Cricket on the basis of his captaincy skills alone.

He doesn't have a bad Test record TBH,and as far as i'm concerned,he is the best captain in the country. But his skill as a bowler won't make him as successful as he is in the shorter formats.

This.

I think longer games bore him, he seems to do more stupid things in tests than in a one day game. He has shown often enough that he isn't really up to test cricket so leave him be as a bloody good one day player. Better having him as that than nothing at all.

Always been a more than decent Test bat tbh.

Would like to see him bowl more, though, so would be happy to see him in Tests,

His test stats give lie to the argument that he can't bat at test level

The problem is that he is a brainless pea-heart who wont show the necessary application when the going gets tough

On the other hand, ODIs are perfect for him because there is zero accountability - he simply walks out and has a slog and can point to the small number of overs remaining as an excuse

I used to have a lot of time for Afridi's potential in test cricket but now believe that, in terms of batting, he is amongst the greatest wastes of talent in history

The thread is talking about bowling, TBF.

I think that his bowling needs the batsman, more often than not, to be coming at him. He needs that to take wickets, and when guys can sit on him he doesn't quite have enough at Test level to be a consistent threat.

His batting ability will also always overshadow his role as a specialist bowler.
