I think he's talking about a game that was played a bit before he got his Ashes call-up where he got a bagful. I presume you're talking about his 7-for the previous season.

No, we're talking about the same thing. He bowled some loose stuff, but I remember his wickets being from good bowling.

No point in arguing with TumTum though.

If you go to the domestic thread for when this match was going on, you would see that the batsman were gifting him wickets. Although I must say that was Smith's worst bowling performance I have seen, ironic that he got the most wickets. ATM he has much better control, but I still don't think he's Test match quality.

"I would love to [get White bowling again], I think he's got plenty of talent, not only with the bat but with the ball as well [though] he hasn't bowled much of late for Australia," Clarke said. "He bowled [four overs] yesterday and bowled really well, so I think his bowling can play a big part going forward in Australia in the shorter form of the game, and I thought yesterday was a good opportunity to get a few overs under his belt."
Addressing White's reluctance to bowl, never more evident than when leading the Bushrangers, Clarke made a sound case for belief.
"I think giving him an opportunity is probably a good start [to building his confidence]," he said. "He's certainly got the talent, now it's about getting some overs under his belt so he gradually builds that confidence back in his bowling.
"Whitey is an allrounder, he is a batsman who can certainly bowl for us; it's just about now giving him the opportunity."

Even stopped bowling in nets hadn't he? Can't believe that Clarke wouldn't have spoken to White before throwing him the ball though..

He hasn't stopped bowling entirely, I remember seeing him send a few down in Shield cricket during the summer.

I'm surprised Australia have chosen a full strength squad for this tour. Then again, their next series is only in August (from what I read) so maybe that's the reason.

Come on BD players!!! Time to step up the game & give us fans something to cheer about. Hoping for a good game

Nothing wrong with giving White a bowl, he's a part timer like Dussey. However if his batting doesn't improve then the bowling doesn't matter.

I think it's a good move. Noone's saying White will be a specialist spinner, but from what i've seen of his bowling in the past he can certainly throw down 3 or 4 overs of decent spin in an ODI. Still won't save him from the axe if he can't make runs though!

Also the first ODI is ment to be on fox2 with the red button at 1:20

Watson and Ponting batting with ease. It would be pleasing if Australia dominate this series. If we are selecting our best lineup, we need to stamp some authority over Bangladesh.

Great to see John Hastings back for Australia. We missed a trick by not playing him in the World Cup, a useful bowler on these sluggish sub-continent wickets.
