    Representatives XI

Becauses XIs are fun, and I have time to kill. A silly but interesting excercise:

Who would you pick in a current World XI if you were only allowed a maximum of one player per country? Obviously this includes a few of your favourite associate players.

    Test:

    Shane Watson
    Chris Gayle
    Kumar Sangakkara
    Sachin Tendulkar
    Ross Taylor
    Ryan ten Doeschate
    Shakib Al Hasan
    Graeme Swann
    Dale Steyn
    Umar Gul
    Hamid Hassan

    ODI:

    Chris Gayle
    Sachin Tendulkar
    Kumar Sangakkara
    AB De Villiers
    Mike Hussey
    Ryan ten Doeschate
    Shakib Al Hasan
    Dan Vettori
    Umar Gul
    Hamid Hassan
    James Anderson
Maybe we wouldn't be so quick to fill buckets with filth if we knew they had a soul. Or maybe that's what they're into. Ain't no way to get inside a bucket's mind.

Good as Steyn is, I couldn't bring myself to choose him over Kallis for tests.

    4) JH Kallis
    5) S Chanderpaul
    6) KC Sangakkara +

Slight bias may come into it but he's a good bowler imo.

The Steyn/Kallis dilemma sucks alright. Have selected Steyn myself, purely for the balance of the side despite rating Kallis the better cricketer.

    Test XI

    1. Sehwag (IND)
    2. Joyce (IRE)
    3. Ponting (AUS)
    4. Chanderpaul (WI)
    5. Sangakkara + (SL)
    6. Ryder (NZ)
    7. Ten Doeschate (NED)
    8. Shakib (BAN)
    9. Steyn (SA)
    10. Gul (PAK)
    11. Anderson (ENG)

    Good batting depth.

If I can't have Asif, I'll have Younis instead and swap Chanderpaul for Roach.

Hmm nah, Tamim and Kallis are definitely viable alternatives depending on the balance you want. And I didn't pick RTD.
