Hate how the North takes the Midlanders in everything just cause it doesn't have enough good stuff of its own.

Shouldn't say this really, I'm a Geordie stuck in a Readingers body. Dumb place of birth.

And playing Paine as a specialist bat too...
Yeah...

Hauritz should be nearing his peak as a spin bowler around 2015 as well.

I really hope that Lynn can keep up the good work. He looks really classy and a very good long term prospect. A quality middle order batsman would go a long way towards reclaiming the #1 spot. He's a bit green at the moment but is a very exciting player.

Nice batting depth and an exciting bowling attack.

Notable mentions who may play a test by then or be close depending on how they go in the next few years.

Slim pickings, and Sarwan is a toss-up really. Probably missing someone big, but alas...

Don't rate Copeland?

Not 100% convinced on his longevity yet. He could be great and play 50+ tests, or sides could work him out and diminish his impact. Maybe a Kasper-type bowler, only picked for certain tours?

Paine as a specialist bat is admittedly a risk and a longshot, but given his leadership role in the T/20, PMs XI and for Tassie, he may end up with the job. Plus by that stage he should be close to peaking with the bat, and he's probably going to end up one of our best options.

If he keeps, it opens up a batting slot for a guy like Ferguson or Lynn to fill, but I'm not sure they're up to the job tbh. All depends on Clarke.

I've not seen a lot of his state work but really he hasn't really impressed me as a future captain thus far. I certainly don't think he'll play as a specialist bat until he starts converting a bit more, he has the technique to be sure.

Hope he does though, wonderful player to watch.

Haha... its nothing but a joke that his name has been thrown into the mix as a future captain, it all started with a newspaper article in which probably some writer kept singing praises of Paine and how he is the real deal and captaincy material, and maybe some idiotic Aussie selector just read that.
Matty Wade's numbers already make him a prime contender to replace Haddin when he retires, so unless Paine somewhat improves in the upcoming season or two I really can't see him having much of an international career.

Er, I thought Steve Waugh called him a captaincy candidate...

Really like that side. I definitely see Hamilton-Brown in the England side at some point (give it another big season or so and he could be fast-tracked in), and once he's in the side I see the England management doing a Tim Paine-esque move and bumping him towards captaincy. He's already getting heaps of experience captaining at Surrey, is a natural leader of men, an explosive batsman that scores quickly and offers a spin option with his offies. Rest of the batting line-up picked itself. I tried to fit James Taylor in, but in the end went with Buttler's explosiveness and then Rashid at 7. Liking the depth in the batting too, with 8, 9 and 10 all being more than handy bats.

If I was making up a 15 man squad, for the 2015 WC (or whenever it is) I'd add Alex Hales, James Taylor, David Wainwright and Tim Bresnan to the squad.
