Ashes Draft

Joao

U19 12th Man
For round 11 I've decide to be change things up a bit and involve matches from 2 series...kinda.

Round 11 features the 1882 match that started it all and the follow-up series played in 1882/83. (4 matches total)

Round order (reverses for round 12)
1.Howe_zat
2.Teja
3.Kingkallis
4.Nufan
5.Marcuss
6.Blakus
7.Zinzan12
8.Shri
9.Michaelf7777777
10.Fredfertang
11.Himannv
12.Joao

Round 12 will be anyone who hasn't played in a series already used.
This ensures that round 12 won't just be a throw-away round.
Does the 12th player picked have to be the 12th man or can you make anyone your 12th?

Very happy with my side. Has a good balance between bat and ball as well as Poms and Aussies.
Probably the best side to be fair, definite balance

Great balance between bat & ball. The batting may not have great depth, but it doesn't need it with that top-order.

Agreed. I think depending on the bowlers to contribute with the bat just says that the batting lineup is a bit too weak. The team put up by Blakus so far has a fantastic top six. They should not be needing the bowlers to scrape around for runs.

That it does. However, I'm a firm believer that you can never have too much batting. My lower order is a weakness - just not too great a one.

In fact you could say that balance to the side is the only thing Blakus lacks. Great batting, great bowling, quality captain. Just lacking a proper all-rounder or two to give balance. But that's merely a bonus.

I have the opposite issue. Four all-rounders in the lower-middle (Armstrong, Jessop, Benaud, Allen) gives plenty of options and depth but the specialists' class just isn't there.

Haha just managed to read the whole founding of the Ashes story. Fantastic stuff.

The article which started it all:

In Affectionate Remembrance
of
ENGLISH CRICKET,
which died at the Oval
on
29th AUGUST, 1882,
Deeply lamented by a large circle of sorrowing
friends and acquaintances
----
R.I.P.
----
N.B. — The body will be cremated and the
ashes taken to Australia.

Reginald Brooks (The Sporting Times).
