Reckon Amla will be a safer bet than Raina right now.

I'd have a specialist keep rather than have AB do it personally.
Perhaps, but Raina looks like the kind of bloke that can score runs. Poor technique but has temperament. Besides, Amla would replace Khawaja in that case.

Your second point is fair...but can't think of a keeper. Paine may not really get a fair crack as he isn't really bashing the door down, Dhoni's meh, Prior's meh, Kashual Silva or Dinesh Chandimal's still unproven, Haider quit Pakistan and Akmal's a hack, Ramdin's a hack and don't know if the WI's have better options, Hopkins isn't a long term option and I don't know who else would keep, and Taibu's a bit too...confrontational. Rahim maybe, but he doesn't look as talented as others.

Obviously however, SA might not even pick de Villiers as their keeper!

Prior's not bad nowadays but age is a factor there. 28 is on the borderline where you could say that without being an exceptional 50+ bat you might not stick around to make a decade team.

I like the look of Paine though. Very good keeper - extremely agile, although Haddin has a better knack for taking speccys (like today) and looks a quality bat in tests. No idea why he doesn't do better in Shield though other than the obvious "throws away starts" - there's a reason for those things, usually.

As for Raina - I don't know. Amla's not bad temperamentally either, you know. And is obviously much less likely to be exposed overseas based on what I've seen of the two.

I went with de Villiers as there is only Jayawardene worldwide who i rate as a gloveman but he is already 31 so might not be around for too long. The rest are all backstops who can bat or who can't in Ramdin's case.

Yeah Amla's pretty good, just don't really know if he'll be that good though. Hard to say at this stage.

I'm a firm believer in the principal that you will get wickets if the opposition has no idea what you are doing. Short of arbitrarily charging in astride a bear, there's not much Mendis can do to make his action more of a mystery. Has been good in Tests and outstanding in LO cricket.
such a great description. respect.
