Maybe, down the line, have separate votes for players and other figures?

Deserve as much respect as any player. Can't have a game without them.

Time to get creative. I don't expect anyone to agree with anything, and if anyone says "no, an Indian did that first", then here is my reply in advance: "I don't care".

Kerry Packer - WSC
Bertie Bosanquet - the googly
Jack Blackham - keeping up to the stumps
Dermot Reeve - popularising the reverse
William Lillywhite - sidearm bowling
Edgar Willsher - overarm bowling
Thomas Walker (b 1778) - sidearm bowling
John Willes - sidearm bowling
CLR James - Beyond A Boundary
John Small (b 1737) - first great batsman
Frank Duckworth & Tony Lewis - rain rules
Douglas Marillier - the scoop
KS Duleepsinhji - the first reverse sweep
Colin Bland - the first great backward point
Mark Greatbatch - opening with intent
Lords Beginner/Kitchener - the Victory Calypso
Billy Birmingham - 12th man
Brian Johnston - TMS and cake
Dr Paul Hawkins - invented Hawk-Eye
David Lloyd - being Bumble
Bill Frindall - more stats than even I manage

Isn't Lillywhite that medium pacer who averaged something like 7 with the ball across half a million County matches?

Not 7 mate. It was 1.54 to be precise...

1576 wickets @ 1.54

Damn!
His average wasn't quite that good - he played in several games where bowler runs conceded weren't recorded, so cricinfo have effectively given him figures like 5/0 off 20 overs. His average is estimated to be between 7 and 11.

Would love to see him play today.

He'd probably be average sadly. How long ago was he around?
First-class span: 1825 - 1853

I'd seriously contemplate sticking the guy in my World XI if not for the fact that it'd be inconsistent to not consider other players from that era who I know nothing about.
