Why really well? If he averages anything close to 45-50 he'd have to be pushing Sanga.

Since January 2008:
Sachin has 2914 @ 66.22
Sanga has 1984 @ 58.35

If we want to get even more recent:

Since January 2009:
Sachin has 1851 @ 84.13
Sanga has 1550 @ 67.39

And we know Sachin trumps Sanga solely in 2010.

Plus when you consider that Sachin is overall the superior ODI player (by a fair bit), a successful tour of South Africa would secure him as the #1 batsman comfortably IMO.

Sangakara sits on the backfoot mosttimes thats why he is great against bouncing ball,but that habbitb has lead to front foot not getting far ahead ,where as dravid at his peak had great backfoot and front foot play not to mention he did face better attacks.dravid is better than sanga till now.

all great batsman will have some chinks otherwise they will never get out, Dravid on a seaming tracks is one of the best things I have seen in cricket since 2000.
