Probably need a thread to discuss signings/departures etc.

Best news I've heard in a long time

Powell Leaves Lancashire - Lancashire County Cricket Club Official Website

also good news

Cricket | Gloucestershire | Glo'sters facing player exodus | This is Bristol

One of the county's most consistent performers in all forms of the game during the past two seasons, New Zealand all- rounder Franklin is understood to be a target for Lancashire, who are preparing to make him an offer to be their overseas player next year.

I'm quite amazed that Daren Powell's stint as overseas superstar didn't work out. I thought he was a nailed-on cert to be the next Wasim Akram.

Might be worth referring to the Beeb as well - Rudolph leaving Yorkshire with a year left on his contract is obviously big news.

I love euphemisms like "The West Indies fast bowler reached an amicable agreement with the Club to end his contract a year early"

"Daren? We love the energy bring to the club, but the cricket...well, it's not your strongest suit, is it? Here's five grand, a Jimmy Cliff CD and your airfare home..."

Franklin would be interesting. We really need a stronger top 4-5, chanders filled that this year, but his batting has been pretty awesome of late.

Might spell the end for Kyle Hogg

Any idea where SiBo and Shah could be heading?
Hants were reported to have held initial talks with Sidebottom, while rumours were Sussex also had an interest, that may have diminished since they captured Amjad Khan though.

Lancashire were said to be in for Shah, but Essex jumped to the head of the queue.

You could probably get Usman Afzaal thrown in on a 'buy one, get the second half-price' basis. :D

What, after waiting ten years for his cap. :)

We need Chanderpaul or Laxman, not more all rounders.

The meeting that went ahead today was due to decide the schedule for the domestic 2011 season, but it seems the outcome has been delayed till November now, with the T20 format being the biggest point of disagreement.

The CC is unlikely to face any changes, while the Pro40 faces a few minor alterations. It was thought the T20 fixtures would be cut to 10 from 16, but it appears that suggestion has been met with sufficient disgruntlement from the countues for it to be decided at a later date, presumably after several more meetings.

Of course for some counties the T20 is the big money spinner, especially for clubs that do not host Test cricket, so you can understand why some are vehemently against the reduction in fixtures.

But personally I hope they are cut pretty significantly, even if it means counties may have to make one or two financial decisions they hoped they wouldn't have to, for the greater good of the game.

Why is Rudolph leaving us?

:(
Still got an eye on international cricket ? Yorkshire has provided him with the ideal platform to ensure the SA selectors can see what they are missing with his consistency in heavy run-scoring.

Also believe his wife has not settled, and work has not panned out great for her. Plus they're understood to be wanting to start a family so need to lay some roots.
