Bond or Steyn?

This is not a "who is the better bowler" thread because you'd obviously have Steyn in your team for the simple reason that he can stay fit.
Nah, Steyn, I'd go for in tests, but I'd have Bond in my ODI team for the simple reason that he played a lot more ODIs and was easily the better bowler in the format. :)

Yeah, same here. Steyn is yet to really hit the heights in the shorter format of the game.

Steyn on the grounds that watching Bond was always tinged with sadness because you knew he was always about to break down again.

TBH, Agarkar has a genuine case for being considered a better ODI bowler than Steyn at this stage.
yeah its amazing how much people have started disregarding odi stats for bowlers since the turn of the century.Sami also amazingly has very decent odi stats yet he is seen as a joke bowler

Tbh, If bowling performances were to be measured purely on record and not how well the bowler looked while taking the wickets, Agarakar's match-winning 6-fer in Adelaide '03 has to have a case for one of the greatest bowling performances ever.

1.Flat Pitch
2.500+ was scored in each of the previous two Innings
3.One of the greatest batting lineups of the time arguably at the peak of their powers

Steyn in tests and Bond in ODI...

I just loved seeing him and Chris Cairns doing well against the Aussies in almost every game!

Remember watching Bond bowl a ball against West Indies IIRC and he broke down mid delivery and sent it down at around 65mph and hobbled off the field. Was very sad to see indeed. Especially considering that Bond was the highlight, for me, of a NZ Vs WI fixture, played infront of about 10 people.

Advertising some casino thing in his sig. Didn't see the need to delete the post and make me look like a fool though.

Steyn played more, though Bond had more potential. Hard to compare. Bond probably could have been one of the greatest bowlers of all time but he just got injured too often. Therefore it's hard to really say.

Both had huge potential. I'm not denying that Bond could have been one of the greatest bowlers of all-time, he sure could have been. But Steyn might actually be one of the greatest bowlers of all time, when he ends his career.
