No matter what happens, I think this wasn't a really interesting match. True that there were some moments like...

1. Dravid's 222
2. Ganguly's 100
3. Astles's century
4. Vettori's superb fightback
5. Zaheer Khan's 3 early wickets
6. *reserved for a NZ batting performance*
7. *reserved fo an Indian bowling performance*

But on a whole I think it was immensely undershadowed by the Australia-Zimbabwe match.

IMO if India go into these Tests with only 4 frontline bowlers the Aussie batsmen will murder them!!!!

:O
If 4 specialists bowlers can't do the job for you, then chances are high that the addition of a 5th bowler would fail to deliver too!

I was highly impressed by Zaheer Khan's performance in the first test match, with some hard work he can become a real match winner for India.

India is almost assured of a win in the first test match:saint: , Interestingly Sachin failed in both innings , i guess he'll come up with a big ton in the second test match.
Dravid is always a pleasure to watch in test matches, some pundits reckons Dravid as the number one test batsman for his sheer consitency!

I wouldn't quite say assured. If we manage to see off the first hour without the loss of a batsman (not including Tuffey) we'll draw the game I reckon.

In India's case it would allow 3 seamers and the 2 spinners - any other way the bowling does look weak since 2 seamers is not enough, and omitting one of Harb and Kumble is a big call.

They do?

Which pundits are these?

I've never seen anyone say that about him - he is a very good consistent player, that's for sure, but is he really as good as Ponting, Lara or SRT?

Dravid is a really great batsman. I've always considered him to be the best test batsman for India alongwith SRT.

But imo, Lara, Ponting, SRT are a bit better than him.

Squad for second test...

Sourav Ganguly (captain), Akash Chopra, Virender Sehwag, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, Parthiv Patel, Harbhajan Singh, Anil Kumble, Lakshmipathy Balaji, Zaheer Khan, Sairaj Bahutule, Yuvraj Singh, Aavishkar Salvi.

And Salvi damages his hand, meaning AA has returned to the squad, and is tipped to play ahead of the great hope!

Also that no-ball by Balaji made the difference as Vincent went on to bat for another 3-4 hrs:( .
