*** Official New Zealand Domestic Season Thread 2010/11 ***

Wells is a batting allrounder IMO.
Yeah I'd agree with that too - espeically going on what he's done this season. He's got talent with the ball though, he's got enough speed to be a decent proposition at the next level. They interviewed Craig Cumming on this weeks show and he reckons he's good enough with the ball to do a job for New Zealand at the next level, apparently he swings it around too which is promising.

Someone who can average 35 with the bat and 32-35 with the ball would be pretty good at six or seven.

What I like about him is he's opened the batting in lower levels and commentators say he moves his feet well, which bodes well for his quick innings being proper cricket strokes rather than brute force which is often the case with free scoring allrounders.

Really coming in at some difficult positions this year. The 82 in his most recent knock changed the match entirely.

Jeetan Patel had a massive fail on cricket company.

"They (Pakistan) have some really good batsmen"

For you maybe Jeets.:p

Yeah, saying they have some really good batsmen is different from saying they have a really good batting lineup.

Umar Akmal as well, fwiw. Am a fan of Misbah too.

Flem's form these past few weeks to months have been woeful at best. Retire imo.
Umar has become ****ter and ****ter with every match since leaving our shores. That Azhar Ali will be a star.

Phlegm needs to gagf.

Umar's definitely not a "very good batsman" - not yet anyway. Azhar's a good find for them but will never be more than adequate.

Ffs don't point out that I don't actually get to watch any test cricket other than NZ or the Ashes.

None of them bar YK are any good in NZ conditions going off last series. Yousuf is almost on the level of the rest these days. "Oh ****, the ball is bouncing above waist height, this pitch isn't a road and Pakistan need me to score runs, what do I do?"

Umar Akmal is the worst batsman at constructing an innings since Martin Guptill. Had a great debut series but he's regressed, hasn't learnt, and I hear he's started getting into the politics of Pakistan cricket with these tantrums over his brother being dropped and whatnot. WAC.

Fawad Alam though, WAG.

Always good to troll Jeets. You ****s deserve it after the Champions League!:@

Looking at the spinners (min 5 wickets)

TD Astle 15 wickets at 21
NB Beard 9 wickets at 38.55
B Singh 8 wickets at 39.87
TS Nethula 7 wickets at 15.28
LJ Woodcock 6 wickets at 52.33

The leggies have had a good start to the season.

And now, given how terrible Hopkins is, a bit of wicky watch:
DC de Boorder 270 runs at 54
CFK van Wyk 174 at 43.5
B Cachopa 175 at 35
J Austin-Smelie 159 runs at 39.75
RA Young 158 at 31.6
OG Ivins 5 runs at 1.66

Intersting that de Boorder has been making so many runs (kinda wish his brother was doing as well). He's rumoured to be one of the better pure wicket keepers around, although his batting was always supposed to be fairly weak. Reckon if Hopkins does get dropped this season, van Wyk will still be first cab off the rank.

Is the opening bowler watch only including innings where the bowler has opened the bowling, or just any innings where that bowler has bowled?

Athlai

Just opened the bowling. Only Auckland and maybe ND have anybody bowling first change that is really worthy of consideration and bugger making any distinctions in who should be counted. Would be gutted if we picked a fast bowler who doesn't even open the bowling for his domestic team.
