Wellington missing Gillespie, Burtt, Bowden and Tugaga for their first match. Oh boy. Tony Stewart is apparently rummaging around for school boys and club bowlers to fill the void.

So it will be Franklin, Edwards, Burns, Elliott, Woodcock/Houghton/Schaw? Maybe Boam in there?

Rhodes was playing in their trials; he might make an appearance. Or they could play that guy who just called himself "Sachin" in the trials

Absolutely ridiculous. It's not just the first match either, both Gillespie and Burtt will be out until at least the HRV cup apparently - which is the first three rounds of the Plunket shield.

Gillespie might chuck it in soon if this keeps happening. No chance of an NZ recall and he can't stay on the park.

Maybe. Probably not in the first round but I bet Wellington sent him an S.O.S

O'Brien is the only Wellingtonian bowler I will tolerate doing well against us.:p

Will Franklin be playing? Or is it actually going to be only the players from that trial match I posted on cricsim? Will post it below for the benefit of any non CS members interested in Welly.

O'Brien obviously would if he is here, I'd say Lamb will play. Possibly Boam.

An attack of Lamb, Boam and either O'Brien or one of the real young blokes/ SONNY CHAN?!?!/Houghdoggydog with Elliott, Franklin? and Woody support.

Ruff.

That game didn't really help you guys decide did it?

And hey long time no see Marc Calkin. Played a couple of 20/20s a few years back for CD.

Haha yeah arguably made the batting harder to pick and the bowling didn't tell us much at all. Lamb will probably play but he has been near the first class team for a bit.

FFS I finally thought Wellington were coming together a bit. Will O'Brien be playing?
He isn't likely to play in any of the first three first class games according to Stuart.

New Zealand cricket should get a loan system up and running, Northern Districts alone have three or four quick bowlers who should be playing first class cricket but aren't.

Surprised not to see Burns in that game. He's performed all right whenever he's been given a chance.

Nah loans demean the competition IMO. First Class cricket is more than just national trials. If ND's reserves want a better crack at playing they should move properly.

Any word on Franklin then? We will really need him leading the pace attack.
