Now Mendis will play the 2nd test. Too early for him IMO. He neds bit more time. Nice to see Senanayake doing well, as well as Welagedara

Even when Mendis is no longer Mendis, India are getting Mendised by Mendis.
Again. Weird stuff that Warne never managed this while Mendis just runs through the lineup.

I do not think it is fair to say that he is no longer Mendis. Everyone goes through bad form and the fact that he is a mystery spinner does not mean that his bad form would be permanent. One of his key strengths, when on song, is that he is very accurate and does produce the odd ball that is unplayable and this is not something that will simply disappear, especially in Test cricket.

Too many catches have been dropped. It looks that Fernando had done nothing when looking at the score card. But actually he did give Gambhir, Sehwag and Dravid a torrid time out there with some inspired short bowling. His hard labor did help Welagedara to clean up Sehwag and Dravid, and some one put down Gambhir off Fernando as well. Welagedara, Fernando, Prasad and Malinga are competing for places in tests, and in Galle with seam and swing, First three may get the nod ahead Malinga. Bur he is the one who brings that X factor in to the game. A good spell from him always produce one or two jaffas.

Malinga would probably get a sore shoulder and won't be a factor in the 4th innings if he aims for out and out pace. He has bowled in the 130-140k range for a while now in T20s and suddenly coming back to tests would be difficult. Either that or I shouldn't drink.

Malinga bowled in ODIs as well, and produced some blistering spells in the Asia cup where he kept hitting high 140s. In Galle eamers like Malinga, Fernando and Prasad should bowl about 10 - 12 overs compared to Welagedara and Mathews who may bowl bit more. Murali may bowl 20 - 25 overs per day, with few here and there from DIlshan. The impact bowlers should be given shorter spells to bowl at full speeds and shake up batsmen.

He is accurate, yes, but he's not predictable in the way Warne was in India. Reckon that explains why he's doing better.
