Pollard chooses Somerset over WI

What kind of rubbish is this?

Kieron Pollard chooses Somerset over A tour | West Indies Cricket News | Cricinfo.com

I mean, it's not like Somerset are dishing out the big bucks that he raked in from the IPL? What Somerset are paying is probably only marginally more than what he's earning on an A team tour. And after his appearance for Mumbai, he's not exactly in the poorhouse, is he? Does wearing the West Indies cap mean so little to him?

If so, then I for one would like to see the West Indies drop him with immediate effect....

He was right when he claimed they were more interested in money than in wearing the West Indies cap....

Yeah, Holding would never have ditched the West Indies for a private tournament.

County cricket is going to destroy Test cricket.

There you go! I think it's a reasonable decision. I'd prefer County Cricket over A-teams, even if it would cost money.

County t20 cricket over A team One Days.

I feel it's ok decision as he is not on WI retainer.

Meh, he's the biggest joke cricketer on the planet and he'd probably struggle to make most countries A teams, the West Indies are better off without trash like Pollard, if they never picked him again he'd be no big loss.

On the contrary, as others have pointed out, he's not good enough to make the main 50-overs team for the West Indies team, as his average will show. This was an opportunity for him to improve his 50-overs game. Instead, he chooses to be a 20/20 specialist for SOmerset.

An easy compromise could've been arrived at. Pollard could've taken part in all six of the one-day matches for the A team, which is just spread out over a fortnight, while Somerset's 16 matches are spread out over the months of June and July. He could play 12 matches for Somerset, and still take part in the A team tour. Now, how is this unreasonable? That's what the WICB are asking....

What a load of rubbish on this thread. All hot air and no substance. Pollard the most over-rated T20 cricketer? Really? What a load of rubbish, not even worthy of a reply.

Pollard accepted this contract for Somerset 'months' before the WICB selected him for the 'one day' segment of the tour. That's right, they didn't select a guy with one of the best FC averages of youngsters in the region for the 4 day stuff, instead choosing the likes of Fletcher and Fudadin.

If he had turned down the whole tour for the T20 stuff I could understand the negative reaction. He has turned down a few 50 over matches to play ion one of the biggest T20 tournaments in the World.

He has not even been given a retainer contract so I really don't see the problem. I am particularly surprised at Mike who is usually so conservative with these things.
