Indian team for Zim triseries

Whatever it takes!!!
Suresh Raina to lead India in Zimbabwe | Cricket News | Zimbabwe Triangular Series | Cricinfo.com

Squad: M Vijay, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Suresh Raina (capt), Virat Kohli (vice-capt), Rohit Sharma, Yusuf Pathan, Ravindra Jadeja, R Ashwin, Umesh Yadav, Vinay Kumar, Ashok Dinda, Pankaj Singh, Amit Mishra, Pragyan Ojha, Naman Ojha

Note: Piyush Chawla will join the squad for the Twenty20s.

Think it is a pretty awesome squad, tbh... Jono must be mighty pleased about getting to see Rohit, Kohli and Vijay in the same XI...

Would have thought Piyush was a better option than Ravindra Jadeja, esp. since Ojha has been picked.. But other than that, looks a pretty solid side.

Jadeja's good in ODIs; don't let his T20 ****eness fool you. Wouldn't want Chawla or Harbhajan batting seven.

Kohli as vc. I think I just lost my stack. Right direction.

Although seeing Kumble's reactions to Kohli's suggestions during the IPL makes me wonder how left-field his input to decision making is. Heh.

Not sure Pandey should have got the call ahead of Uthappa.

So Yuvraj has been dropped or rested? Certainly see no reason for the latter.

long IPL and then a world T20... Pretty much a single game against SL the only thing gonna happen in this Zim triseries (the final). No point asking all these guys to continue live off their suitcases for this series alone..

ESp. since the Asia Cup and the SL tour are nearby.. I would want my test squad to be rested before that series, tbh.

Rohit Sharma makes a comeback to the ODI team on the basis of one knock?

He averages 25 in 42 matches now at a strike rate of 73 .
Pretty dire if u ask me.
There was a period of 20 matches,i think before he was dropped where he averaged around 15 .
And it was not as if he wasn't given a consistent run.
Maybe Pandey or Pujara should have been given a run ahead of him this time.

Well, Panday was even worse in the IPL.. At least Rohit has form going for him..

Let's break the team down in to the following:
Batsmen: Vijay, Karthik, Raina, Kohli, Rohit
Bits and pieces: Y Pathan, Jadeja, N Ojha (Wk)
Seamers: Yadav, Vinay, Dinda, Pankaj
Spinners: Ashwin, Mishra, Ojha

I am happy with a squad full of youngsters selected but the combination doesn't seem to be right. There appear to be too many bits and pieces players. Would have preferred someone like Panday in place of YP or Jadeja and Uthappa, who keeps wkts too, in place of Ojha. Rayydu, who showed good promise both with the bat and gloves for MI, could have been considered too.

The selectors should have probably waited for the T20 WC to be over before pulling the trigger. I have Q mark over Vijay, YP, Jadeja and N Ojha. May be Uthappa, Panday, Rayydu and Irfan Pathan would have been better options

Naman Ojha is hardly a bits and pieces player. He has good List A figures.

I have seen him play for RR (the team I support). I wouldn't classify him as a specialist batsman or a wk (irrespective of his List A figures)

Yuvraj should be given every opportunity to trip over a cricket ball and to play kho kho. There doesn't seem to be any other way to get rid of this guy.

He was decent. Against quality pace bowling, he looked at sea. Also would have preferred better consistency from him

As I said, there is no way, I would pick him as a specialist bat and that too in ODIs. Could squeeze in to a T20 line up, if he is keeping too

So there was some history to the 2017 CT flare up...
