Pak Players are 'mentally ********': Intikhab Alam

LAHORE: DawnNews on Friday received the PCB inquiry committee report from its sources which confirmed that the alleged players openly accused each other on different issues.

Among the accusations were, former PCB coach Intikhab Alam's comments stating that some of the players in the team were 'mentally ********'.

Faisal Hayat, the team’s medical doctor said that Umar Akmal pretended to have a back problem, especially since the tests did not prove his pain. He also said that Shoaib Malik and Salman Butt pretended to have injuries before a match in New Zealand.

On the other hand, Kamran Akmal defended his brother by saying that if Umar Akmal had no back injury why would he have been given an injection. Umer Akmal said he received the injury during a practice match in Hobart.

Younis Khan in his statement suggested that Umer Akmal should be fined for faking his injury.

The much criticized former captain Mohammad Yousuf also said that Umar Akmal faked the injury. Moreover, he told the tribunal that five players should be taken out of the team: Shoaib Malik and Umer Akmal for discipline and Fawad, Umer Gul and Kamran Akmal for poor performance.

Intikhab Alam also said that Rana Naveed’s integrity was 80 per cent doubtful, adding that Shoaib Malik was responsible for creating intrigues in the team.

Meanwhile, Shahid Afridi said that his father's tears were enough punishment for the ball tampering saga.

The team manager Mohammad Raqeeb criticized the captaincy of Mohammad Yousuf, while Shahid Afridi said that Yousuf never took responsibility for his decisions and rather shifted the blame on others.

Lahore: Former Pakistan assistant coach Aaqib Javed labelled Younus Khan an “arrogant captain” and one that “no player wanted to lead Pakistan”, according to the inquiry committee report that resulted in punishment handed out to seven players.

According to a source, the report also maintained that Javed accused Younus, Mohammad Yousuf and Shoaib Malik of off-setting team unity on the tour of Australia. While Malik faced a one-year ban and a heavy fine, Younus and Yousuf were banned indefinitely by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on the recommendation of the inquiry committee.

The report further revealed that Malik recorded his statement before the inquiry committee saying that Yousuf had forced six players from the national team to take Quranic oath against Younus’ captaincy at the residence of former captain Inzamamul Haq in Lahore. Kamran Akmal, who had been pressing to include his younger brother Umar in the team earlier in the year, was faced the axe as the PCB sent Sarfraz Ahmed as his replacement on the tour of Australia.

Umar admitted before the committee that he was “disappointed on his brother being dropped” and that was why he “faked an injury”. Umar was fined for his actions by the committee. Pakistan’s former coach Inthikhab Alam – who was in charge during the Australia tour – confirmed the presence of match-fixing elements during the tour, according to the report.

The report added that Alam believed there existed concrete facts to back his claims. Abdul Raqib, Pakistan’s manager on the tour of Australia and New Zealand, revealed that Mohammad Aamer was flirting with girls when fielding in the deep and several other players were interested in fielding in the deep as well but when their positions were changed, they took out their displeasure on the captain.

Pakistan’s physio Faisal Hayyat exposed the attitude of the opener Salman Butt and former captain Malik while stating that the duo pretended to be ill after finding out that the pitch Pakistan was supposed to play their next match on had grass so that they would be omitted from the playing eleven.

 One could make a really good comedy based on the Pakistan cricket team, you wouldn't even have to work that hard, the material keeps writing itself. I've always said that Afridi reminds of Michael Scott and David Brent from 'The Office' and apparently the rest of the team is full of characters from a Judd Appatow movie  I can totally picture the players fighting with each over who gets to field in the deep and as a result get to flirt with girls :laugh: EPIC WIN

Rana Naved ul Hasan

Yeah, but Imran and company would run their wrists on the playing equipment on the field and leave the flirting to off the field. Aamer seems to have it figured out the other way round.
