Definitely not. I'm a huge fan of Lara and I dont want to see it all ruined by some "comeback". When he left the game, he left on a high and with everyone praising his name and achievements. He has nothing left to prove.

Yes, would be fun for the fans to watch, not much pressure, nothing to prove. I don't see how this affects his legacy even if he fails.

Precisely, a comeback at this stage would benefit neither him nor the West Indies team.

you guys are crazy, I could care less about his legacy, at this point I would do anything to watch Lara bat just to get a glimpse of that high back lift and some slashes through point. Batting has changed so much, everyone's trying to hit the ball out of the park, I want to see Lara remind us how great great the art really is.

He's doing it for the cash like every other t20 specialist

Let's leave it at that

Duh, I posted a comment without even reading the thread title and OP properly. No, he should stay well clear of Tests, T20 is good enough to please the fans.

Woah, I think people are getting a bit over-excited here. There is no mention at all of test cricket.

The article stated that he might be coming out of retirement to play some Twenty20 games for Surrey. Personally I think this would be a great thing. The fans would get a glimpse of him in action again, some young English cricketers will gain a lot from playing with/against him and he will no doubt walk away with a nice paycheck. Everybody wins.

As far as a hypothetical test comeback goes, I am pretty indifferent. Sure if he did I would be keen to tune in and see how he goes, and it would be lovely to see him score massive and bring the Windies to victory, but he certainly doesn't need to do so.

He was basically shown the door by the Windies when he went and given the teeny public figleaf of going of his own volition, so I'd be pretty sceptical that he'd go back even if asked.

Just before his retirement he was talking about playing tests until he was 40 and then he was gone.

Would still do a job tho, of that I've no doubt. Maybe not a Laraesque job, but given what passes for the Windies top order nowadays he couldn't really be a lot worse.

I would love see him comeback if he was still in the same form, but i doubt it after 3 years he would still be the same, though this county run would give a good idea

BCL has spent a long time metoring Barath and Lil Bravo, I don't think he would want to jeapordise their chances by returning to West Indies duty.

I think this is just a Shane Warne style T20 swansong tbh. I also have the feeling he thinks T20 batting is showing more skill now rather than brute force and he wants to be a part of that.

Yep. My understanding is that talks are at a very early stage indeed.

Is he rumoured to be a target for Mumbai Indians in next year's IPL or was that just wishful thinking from some on here?

Well I voted yes, but purely out of selfish reasons because I want to see how he would cope if he does ever do that. It is like imagining Warne coming out of retirement except Warne has been involved with the game, Lara has been absent completely.

Couldn't buy a run in ICL. Looked like wavell Hinds. If that Lara is who is making the comeback, sorry i'd prefer videos of his past exploit. Don't want a '.... Made a comeback at the age of 40 but couldn't quite live upto it.....' line in his profile.

Wouldn't mind him the least bit in t20s though.
