Silly question.

Ray was just out of the shower but we sat there for about half an hour (before WE had to go) just chatting away like old pals. I gave Ray Lindwall some advice on bowling the outswinger() but I don't recall any stories (it was a long time ago) but just a great general cricket chat.

The next year it was Old Rest of the World and Gary Sobers came to the door. Unfortunately, despite us being very polite he was very rude.

A few years ago a friend of mine ran into Dennis Lillee and sat and chatted with him for a whiile. Said he was a really good bloke.
I'm sure Ray would have appreciated your advice

Very surprised about Sobers, I have always been under the impression that he was a very affable character. I really hope I meet a few of these older players, they are the last of the gentleman's game to me. I might have to loiter around the MCG this coming Boxing Day or something.

Umpiring a game yesterday and met former England, Surrey and Northants player Raman Subba Row.

Very pleasant chap.

I actually had the pleasure of meeting Neil Harvey at the Kennington Oval c1980 (Old England v Old Aus match). he invited myself and a friend into the changing room to meet Ray Lindwall. Utter gents the pair of them.

Welcome to the madhouse.
You see Harvey on quite a few DVDs on cricket history and he has a really clear and concise way of remembering players and the game's history. Seems like a really nice bloke too.

He's also my all-time favourite batsman, just ahead of Compton.

Greetings from South Africa

I am a newbie to a forum page, and I don’t just like Cricket, I LOVE it! This week started without any exiting IPL games, and as you I might imagine I am eagerly awaiting the cricket tournament between South Africa and England. This local “maiden” doesn’t blindly support a team; I support and enjoy the game as a whole. I look forward to fast bowling chatter and the old and tested 5-Day Test Match…steady as you go forum discussions.

Long time lurker, first time poster.

Have indulged in many of the fine leg spin related threads over the last couple of months and thought I'd join in the festivities.
