So you've dispensed with Younis Khan, Mohammad Yousuf and Shoaib Malik, Pakistan's three most senior players; brought back Shoaib Akhar - thats almost as likely as Shane Bond making himself available for test cricket again; and whilst Rana Naved is a useful batsman, hes predominantly a bowler so you have a tail starting to form at number seven. Not to mention you've continued with Shahid Afridi, now suspended for two matches for attempting to tamper with the ball by biting it, the captain. Interesting to say the least...

I think Sonia, what the guys are saying in such a welcoming way to a new poster, is they don't agree with your thoughts
.Personally don't think they need quite such a radical overhaul, but you never know. Anyway, welcome aboard. Hope you enjoy CW.

Few teams in history have ever gone under a complete overhaul of players and found any success. It takes years of persistence, playing the waiting game for a combination of brilliant cricketers to emerge, and making the most of the 14-15 best cricketers in the country.
You could mix and match any Pakistan cricketer into and out of the squad that toured Australia, and I still think the ODI result would have remained 5-0. |

On a serious note getting a good captain would be like 50% of the job done however I just don't see a good leader around apart from Younis and him getting the captaincy baclooks highly unlikely. The problem for Pakistan over the last decade has not been finding good talent its about how they develop themselves.Players like Gul,Butt,Kaneria,Kamran,Malik all looked like cricketers with great talent but none of them stepped to the next level apart from Asif, however there is still time on their sides and if they can apply themselves and play with better focus and don't get theselves involved with team politics they can still forge a decent career for themselves.
Umer and Aamer has shown that Pakistan system can still produce top talents but wether that talent can be polished well is another question. |

Younis seems a bit mentally frail to be captain, tbh.

Can you imagine Afridi being captain if an incident like Ovalgate happens?
He could be in the team, but PCB need to really think out this captaincy stuff, even if the alternatives are a bit thin. (In retrospect - Shoaib Malik to succeed Inzi was not the worst call ever). |
