*Official* Zimbabwe in West Indies

Was playing club cricket in Jo'burg but I think he went back to Zim a couple years ago.

Interesting that Andy's good friend Mark Vermeulen is not part of the aforementioned 30 and hasn't played any domestic cricket for over 3 months.
Vermeulen actually got dropped from his domestic team; he's kicking around in the B League.

Ervine's currently on 188* for his domestic team having come in at 13-3. His brother Craig scored 81 from 13-4. Really looking forward to this tour.

Two newcomers for Zim in their 15. Ex-Hampshire all-rounder, Greg Lamb and ex-footballer and younger brother of Hamilton, Shingirai Masakadza. No word if Blignaut and Sean Ervine were selected though both will be featuring in Zim’s 20/20 tournament which starts tomorrow and will be televised across Africa on SuperSport and in India.

Any idea why Ervine was not selected? Not sure how this will affect his county status if he does make a return.

Nice to see Greg Lamb included, never quite made it for Hampshire (especially when we stupidly made him our main spinner before Tahir came along) but hope he goes well.

Ervine hasn't made himself available for national selection as it'd make him an overseas players for the purposes of county cricket. Even if he wanted to play, I think he's still technically bound by his Hampshire contract.

And yeah, Lamb's proven just how dire his selection as a frontline spinner in England was by taking just nine wickets in eleven Logan Cup games at an average of almost 60 this season. He's averaging 56 with the bat though, as you'd expect him to I suppose.

Four specialist spinners and no Rainsford. Better hope the pitches turn.

I thought that would have been the case but just seemed strange that he was in the provisional squad, I had certainly heard nothing to suggest that he would not be playing for Hampshire next season.

Zimbabwean provisional squads have always been very much wishful thinking. Players often decline the offer to play after being selected in them.

IMHO, Runako Morton, Travis Dowlin, Lendl Simmons and Wavell Hinds are out, and we will - hopefully - welcome back from injury the likes of Chanderpaul, Sarwan, the Bravos and Barath....

1) Chris Gayle
2) Adrian Barath
3) Ronnie Sarwan
4) Shiv Chanderpaul
5) Darren Bravo
6) Kieron Pollard
7) Dwayne Bravo
8) Dwayne Smith
9) Denesh Ramdin
10) Suleimann Benn
11) Kemar Roach

Beamer

International Vice-Captain
University of West Indies Vice Chancellors XI to face Zimbabwe on February 26th:

Simon Jackson (captain)
Kraigg Brathwaite
Nekoli Parris
Kevin Stoute
Yannic Cariah
Anthony D' Anadrade
Shane Dowrich (wk)
Jamar Griffith
Jason Holder
Ruel Braithwaite
Delorn Johnson

Reserves:

Boris Hutchinson
Shervon Penco

Bare in mind that the lineup may well be different as the one stated is just the common sense lineup. Also the team is fairly weak because the match is taking place at the same time as the final round of 4 day domestic matches. Luckily Barbados aren't playing so Braithwaite, Dowrich and Holder can play.

Now the University of West Indies Vice Chancellors XI is the perfect chance for Kraigg Braithwaite, Dowrich, Holder.

With the elder Bravo and Sarwan still injured this would be my team....

Do you have a link to that story, Beamer?
