This is great news - Cricket: Vincent 'in the frame' for Black Caps - Sport - NZ Herald News - would be good to see him back in the Black Caps.

Haha, wow, really was not expecting this. As a Vincent fan it's great news but as a New Zealand fan you just have to feel a bit for the guys on the sidelines waiting to make their debut, especially if you miss out on someone who has only just returned and played a handful of T20 matches.

How would that work though? Surely the opposing captain could just refuse?

Edit: Oh and ff's with Lou Vincent. Why in the world would he even be near the New Zealand team. If where picking guys on 20/20 form this season perhaps we should play guys like Seth Rance and Anton Devcich

When was the last time Lou Vincent did anything of note, I'd guess at 2006. But yea, let's put him in the New Zealand team based on 2-3 innings. Talk about a slap in the face for guys that have actually worked hard for four plus years now.

Those two have been in imperious form in domestic ODs and they both can bat in any position. Plus it's not like they are spring chickens either, they're seasoned domestic campaigners, could have some problems with quality spin though. Three good tonks in a handful of Twenty20s don't warrant Lou Vincent being fast tracked back for anything other than Twenty20s. Fast tracking someone like Bond is alright as there is low supply of quality express bowlers, but fast tracking Vincent stinks of a Luke McAllister type situation. Don't forget Watling too. So are Mills and Ryder the only ones unavailable? How about Elliott? From 7 down the players are locked in for me, suppose Arnel could come in: Positions 7 - 11: * DL Vettori JDP Oram DR Tuffey TG Southee SE Bond Top Order: MJ Guptill + BB McCullum SB Styris LRPL Taylor NT Broom SL Stewart / RJ Nicol or BJ Watling + BB McCullum MJ Guptill LRPL Taylor NT Broom SB Styris Broom, Styris or new guy's positions are interchangeable.

Have mixed feelings about watling in there. Happy with him in the test team at the moment. As for Broom I don't mind him being given a run in the test team. But would prefer to see shannan stewart over him in the ODI side just to try someone else. You make good points about Vincent. But if he can put up another few good knocks will that change your mind. 3 innings are not enough you are right. Personally I thought that Vincent got dropped too quickly last time around. his last 5 scores in 2007. Were poor - 6 9 18 5 and 0. But Vincent started 2007 with 66 76 90 31 73 |
