Why on earth is this a 2 Test Series only?

Test squad Graeme Smith (capt), Hashim Amla, Johan Botha, Mark Boucher (wk), AB de Villiers, JP Duminy, Paul Harris, Jacques Kallis, Ryan McLaren, Morne Morkel, Wayne Parnell, Alviro Petersen, Ashwell Prince, Dale Steyn, Lonwabo Tsotsobe.

No Ntini..

Better 2 tests than no tests!

Prefer no tests to be honest. South Africa is on a hiding for nothing.

Yeah a series of this magnitude deserve 3 test matches, even 4.
I am glad Ashwell Prince was able to save his place..although I hope better sense prevails and he is given his place in the middle order.

Neither Amla nor Kallis want to leave No.3 / No.4 spots.

India will win if they produce dustbowls. Later in the year you would expect SA to produce greentops at home.

Well I hope they produce Dustbowls. Because even if they do not prepare dust bowls and end up winning, the pitches will be classified as Dust Bowls because of the result.

Dont SA have any actual openers in domestic cricket potentially pushing for a test place ATM?

Virus is in the squad and he opens domestically. As has Botha to pretty good success. Elgar, Puttick even Rossouw and Vandiar can open albeit only so far in limited overs cricket but they have the ability to bat anywhere. So there are opitions, its just that Procter, Smith and Fletcher are all big on Prince and they don't want him to bat in the middle order anymore.

Yes but he averages over 50 where he is, so he isn't going to move.

Is it that they don't want him in the middle or that they want him in the team but he can't fit in the middle?

I think it's because they don't know where else to put Prince is the reason why he's opening.
