Damien Martyn as well lmao, suppose he wouldn't make the worst of openers though

There are a few players who may (ideally) be targets for transfers and buyouts-
  • Graham Napier- for bowling power and a longer batting
  • Luke Wright- for batting stability and some tight overs of medium-pace
  • Nathan McCullum- Highly productive, an ideal bid war target
  • Ajantha Mendis- For gobbling up batting sides quickly
  • Rory Kleinveldt- Inexpensive, but highly productive
  • Phil Hughes- Hot target for long innings
  • Cameron White- For a series of big hits
  • Niraj Patel- For scoring a long innings and building partnerships, and an Indian option
  • Manpreet Gony- Possibly the best Indian T20 all-rounder by figures, and inexpensive
  • Shadab Jakati- An option in case a run-scoring spinner is needed
  • Luv Ablish- Fantastic average and strike rate, ex-ICL
  • JT Billa- Unknown seam bowler, very good T20 stats
  • Saurabh Tiwary- One of India's promising young batsmen who's suited to T20
  • A few Maharashtra batsmen doing well for their team may be picked to fill a team's batting order.
A lot of these players are not settled in their existing teams or haven't yet played in the IPL, so franchise owners should try to rope them in. The team with Cameron White, Graham Napier, Nathan McCullum and Shaun Tait (if available) will do well this season.

Cairns has been removed from the auction list due to allegations of match-fixing in the ICL, a tourament which the IPL refused to believe existed 12 months ago.

And yet Gibbs and Warne were allowed to play last year...

Brendon Diamanti has no chance!
He's got good T20 stats all round, which will help the team which gets him. His inexperience, however, may work against him getting someplace.

Cricinfo article said:
"The [IPL] governing council has decided against keeping him on the list," Lalit Modi, the IPL commissioner, told Cricinfo. "We have removed him from the list for his alleged allegation as we have zero tolerance for this kind of stuff."
Alleged allegation?

I remember hearing about this. There have been allegations of match fixing in the ICL - with a video emerging which appears to incriminate a number of the Pakistani players. I'm not sure of the backstory and so cannot verify the reliability - however, you can see the video here.

It is a shame not to see Chris Cairns in the IPL and as I thought he'd have been quite good to watch, always been an exciting dynamic cricketer.

Yeah but he hasn't even played in that format for 12-18 months, and he hasn't played internationally for years, plus as has already been said, he's 39, there's not many 39 year olds running around in the IPL

Jayasuriya, Hayden, Warne, Kumble, Gilchrist etc come to mind. They may be all not 39 but they are close to it.

And they've all only been out of the international fold for 12-18 months (apart from Jayasuriya) and have been actively playing IPL in the interim, Cairns has been sunning himself on a Dubai man made beach

Hayden was still a force in IPL2. I went as far to say that he and Gilly were the two best Australian T20 batsmen at that point in time, considering how badly Australia went in the World T20 a month or so later.
