Not Terrible
Precam got worked up when someone was saying Boucher was as good as Dhoni finishing and hence this thread.

Mention the name finisher and Bevan comes to mind automatically. But how deserving he is for that tag. For this I tried to get stats of all ODI batsmen in history who stay not out while guiding their teams to victory. Needless to say I am surprised that out of all batsmen who have scored more than 1000 runs chasing and seeing their team win not out, Bevan ranks last in terms of runs/innings, strike rate as well as the indexed average (SR X runs/innings)

Please find below the list :

Player Matches NO Innings Runs SR 100 50 Runs per match Index Avg
Saeed Anwar (Pak) 16 14 1165 86.48 6 6 83.21 71.96

MG Bevan (Aus) 55 25 1020 68.91 1 8 40.80 28.12

:-O:blink:

I am surprised to see Anwar and ganguly leading those lists.. and despite popular criticism that tendulkar fails to see his team win he is no.3 with a fantastic runs/innings. Dhoni is in the middle of the pack and i expect him to go further up. but what amazed me was that Bevan's figures are so mediocre despite him having popular acclaim as a great finisher. Hussey is nowhere in that list.
Interesting.

finishing also includes finishing the first innings well.
Finishing includes so many things that to term a batsman "a finisher" is a very silly thing indeed to do. Not a term I have the slightest of patience with.

How on Earth long did that take you? And did you decide "I must be able to do that here" before trying or did you just try?
Simple. I logged in using my Sir Alex multi, then wrote some text with the secret message in mind, in order to throw people off my trail.
