That news was as shocking to me as when I opened the prank CW Best Ever # 8 thread. I seriously thought this was a joke as well. Sami is returning? WTF?!? I think SJS had done an analysis a little while ago that proved (to me anyway) that statistically he's the worst test bowler of all time. And we're recalling him??? Hell, I'd even take a fat, out of practice, and disruptive Shoaib Akhtar over him! This series is officially going to be a disaster.

He won't play unless one of Asif, Gul and Aamer get injured. Start praying for their fitness now IMO.
Also, I expect Pakistan to get slaughtered by the bounce. Looked an absolute mess at Napier, I dread to think how they'll deal with the MCG. |

With Pakistan's general lack of fitness, the possiblity of that is very high IMO. I would expect Sami to suit up for at least one of the matches. I suppose the only thing that may deflect from his sure to be horrible figures are the the expected Pakistani batting collapses.

Rauf's in the squad too and presumably still ahead of Sami in the pecking order.

I hate the idea of seeing Sami again....Talha, Wahab deserve to be chosen ahead of him in any form of the game....with But as PCB head and Moyo as Captain and Inti has coach, Pak cricket have gone backwords in last few months.
On the other hand Sami can not be worst than Gul in tests, who has been spraying crap all over for almost a year now.

Sami's recall comes as a disappointment and tells us yet again that selection process is not on merit but on favoritism in Pakistan. There are batsmen and bowlers in domestic circuit who are much better players then the ones we have got in current squad. Unfortunately they will never be seen at the highest level.
Mohammad Talha deserved a spot in the international side over Sami. He performed much better at the domestic level and better then Sami. This Pak team is a walk in the park for Aussies.

IF Sami does not play, then I still think Pakistan can be competitive, especially if the YK rumours are true. Plus I hear they have quite a classy reserve keeper, Sarfraz or something? If so then why not play Kamran as a batsman?
A side of: Farhart Butt/Alam Younis/Iqbal MoYo Umar Kamran Sarfraz Aamer Gul Asif Kaneria Not a bad side. If Pakistan are really lucky the only weak point is the openers.

I remember in a "worst cricketers" thread he got off the hook due to his relative decency at ODIs. There can't have been anyone else as proficient at bowling so badly he even makes neutrals slightly angry. |
