The biggest thing about fitness in cricket is the mental side of the game. The fitter you are, the longer it allows you to concentrate. The first thing to go when you are tired is your head, not your body.
Chess champion Gary Kasparov was a big fitness fanatic, he felt that it was vital to his ability to concentrate. And if it's important in chess, it's got to be even more important in cricket.

Same is true of the majority of pro snooker players these days too.

A good drill we did when we were eleven.

Objective of drill - to build your confidence with batting against a hard cricket ball at a young age.

Drill - lie on your back while your mate holds a ball directly above your head and drops it at you. Your reactions take over and you will dodge the ball before it can hit you.

Lesson - as long as you keep your eye on the ball you won't get hit by a bouncer. Your reactions won't let you.
