*Official* Sri Lanka in India

I'm watching the "highlights" on Supersport.. 600/4 at the moment.. Why is that in anyones book good? Home advantage is fair enough, but how can a side be expected to be dominant away from home when coming up with roads like this.. Take a look at the variations in Australia's pitches, although admittedly not perfect, give you a bit of encouragement if you want to be a paceman, a spinner, or a specialist bat, one reason for their past dominance both home and away I feel..

Fair enough to India for a cracking performance, but its not nice viewing
Langeveldt, India has worked up even better scores overseas in the last decade (Sydney 04 comes to mind). Australian pitches are among the most homogenous pitches in the world now and the terrible paucity of spinners there is quite enough indicator of how spin bowling has been decimated by un assisting pitches there.

I agree with you R_D. I think many people just read the scorecard and decided, "Well, top 3 hundreds! RR of 4.5! Murali going at 5 per over!" and jumped to concluding that it is a flat bed. The truth is that Sri Lanka missed a trick by going in with 3 finger spinners and just one fast bowler. Chanaka Welegedara bowled superbly in the first test first morning but it is asking too much of him to be the only genuine pace bowler in the side. I think perhaps SL underestimated Indian batsmen and forgot that they are master players to realise from their earlier mistakes and adapt quickly. The third spinner Mendis was reduced to play bowling out the overs and it did not help Murali had an offday.
It was risky tactic and gambling on winning the toss and batting first.. would've been Sanga's ideal scenario.

Yes R_D, I think that was what Sangakkara might have been thinking. However there is no doubt he thought 3 spinners would/could rout out this Indian batting lineup twice on such a track. Perhaps he just misread the pitch and thought this would be another flat deck with some assistance for spinners towards the last few days of the test match. In any case it backfired and now Sri Lanka has to battle it out to draw this.

i feel like Harbhajan Singh's slap strighten Sreesanth.. he has been phenominal in this match..
Haha.

Anyways, until we get Mahela out I'm not too comfortable here. Can't let a big partnership develop here.

If SL are bowled out today and if the follow on is enforced, it will be an uphill battle for them from then on. 1 in 10 chance of a win.

you don't know how many are there? Go to Cricinfo and select Grounds section and then the country"India".. you will find there..find and post here..Lets go through them
You mean to say Indian pitches doesn't require any special attention to make test matches more interesting?
So. you think every one of 'em pitches in India is a batsman's paradise and that they need "special attention to make tests interesting"? If you did mean that, you are talking out of your ass.

As I kept saying, Sreesanth was the right selection for India!
Ah!! now I can't image the titles for the news papers in the sports page

May be some of these

"Sreesanth Strikes back"

i am telling u Harbhajan Singh should slap Sreesanth three months.. it seems like the indian fast bowlers go through that trend.. they come and impress people and bowle well for a while then.. they decline and they are dropped..in Sreesanth's case that slap from Harbhajan is working magic for him..

Sreesanth making Ishant look like a novice atm.
The best thing about Sreesanth is that he has neither gained nor lost much pace in his bowling. His speed has been consistent throughout his career, like Zaheer Khan. He could become the spearhead of this pace attack after Zaheer retires. If he doesn't lose his swing that is.

I agree :p
