I guess with it being the first match of the summer, good enough conditions for bowling, and a weakened lineup without Sarwan enforcing the follow on was a positive move. I'm actually very happy they have, it's just not what I expected though.

Decent catch but, seriously, what a woeful shot. One wonders what the WI team has gained in getting their senior players back when the new guys and fill-ins from the strike have been the ones to show the most fight.

Where are their heads at?!

Aussie in 12 months time to go on a 'drop Hilf' campaign and cite this Test as being against a crap batting line-up so doesn't count.

Haha but a lot of people had already done much the same with his performances in England, saying "conditions were perfect for him there" so the fact that he was Australia's best player on a tour where the attack went to pieces doesn't count for anything. It's as though as soon as he returns to the country where he's played cricket for his entire life the ability to consistently hold an excellent line and length with outswing at 85-90mph will suddenly become redundant.

Slats giving heaps to Gayle. Ouch.

@ Gayle putting his bat between his legs, pointing it at the camera and Heals saying "That's massive."

Lame, gotta come better than that yo..

BTW unlike some of your australian's who for some odd reason has been questioning Hilfy's place & ability since the SA tour concluded. I haven't, so if anyone is going to go off on such ludicrous a rant in 12 months time, it probably will be you since you thought of it first.

I'll put my hand up saying Hilf isn't in my starting XI.

Personally I don't see what any Australian bowler has done to warrant being selected ahead of him. Other than Johnson, who has been horribly out of sorts for about six months, Hilfy's outperformed every other candidate in his short test career.

Is this his being crap in ODIs counting against him?

TBH, that's not really a problem, there are other bowlers in with a decent shout. It's people belittling Hilf's performances when given the opportunity that grates.

Yeah, this. People decide long in advance that they'd prefer Bollinger or Clark or whoever in the team, and when Hilfenhaus puts the rest of the team to shame in the most important series there is, or when he takes three wickets in his opening spell, they come up with some excuse for why it doesn't count.
