Australia's Best T20 XI

Furball

Evil Scotsman
Hopes should be nowhere near an Australian T20 side.

He's the perfect example of a bowler who can be useful in ODIs but who will get smashed in T20s.

For those who have seen Doherty, anyone think he would make sense in this format?.
Yeah he definitely would, not only for this format but also the OD format, he should have been the second spinner ahead of Holland for the Indian tour.
1.Brad Hodge
2.Shane Watson
3.Brad Haddin
4.Cameron White
5.David Hussey
6.Mike Hussey
7.Moises Henriques
8.Mitchell Johnson
9.Brett Lee
10.Nathan Hauritz
11.Dirk Nannes
12.David Warner
13.Xavier Doherty
14.Nathan Bracken
15. Adam Voges/ Travis Birt

This is the best possible squad that one can pick on current form and circumstances, but a lot can change of the basis of how some blokes perform, during the big bash and the T20 games leading into the WC.

What has Doherty got over Krejza?
Just that Doherty has been one of the most consistent OD spinner in Australia and also the fact that he unlike Crayfish doesn't leak runs, but as I said there is still some time to go before the WC, so if Crayfish can put together some good performances, then he might leapfrog Doherty.

Krejza has clearly turned a corner lately, and his recent showings in LO Cricket have benefited. He bowled very well in the Pakistan 'A' series and has started off the Ford Ranger Cup really well. While I agree that putting in some more good performances would definately help his cause, I don't think he needs to do too much more to prove himself against this "consistent spinner" who has never had a List A average under thirty, and last season averaged 36.

Free lesson kids: limited overs cricket allows you to bowl more aggressively, because you generally have five players back. That's why Krezja will generally be a good limited overs bowler; if he does bowl a bad ball it is more likely to go for one run, to one of the guys out on the fence, than in Test cricket where the fields are more aggressive and it is easier to hit boundaries.

Could it be considered that Krezja could achieve more success in First Class and Test cricket if he is given an extreme version of an 'in-out' field in which several people are placed on the boundary as well as very close to the bat.

Interesting views on Doherty so far, times like this i wish AUS domestic games where shown on SP over here..

Never rated Doherty. He is a much improved bowler from his early seasons of domestic cricket (statistics reflect this), but is still a very average bowler.

He has never been considerably accurate (like Hauritz) nor does he have the attacking edge a cricketer such as Krezja possesses. Just a middle of the road spin bowler. Still young, and has shown enormous improvement after 8 years in the system, but is by no means an international bowler.

I guess Bailey, Birt & Smith based their performances yesterday, have enhanced their chances of making this squad.
