The Best Attack Eoin Morgan has Scored Against
Can someone find it?
Morgan has now played 18 matches against Test-playing nations, with a high score of 43. Of the 13 played with Ireland, his high score is 37* against the West Indies (from 55 balls in an abandoned game). In those matches, Niall O'Brien (x3), Alex Cusack, William Porterfield, Kevin O'Brien (x2), Andrew White and Jeremy Bray (x2) have all scored innings of 37 or more. He's played for Middlesex since 2007, having never once featured in the first division of the county championship. He also plays his cricket at Lord's but still only manages to average 35. He's had one season out of three in the top division of the Pro40 League, in which Middlesex finished bottom and were relegated. He's played some pretty decent innings in Twenty20, but can anyone find any instance of him scoring a half-century against even a reasonable-quality attack in List A or First-Class cricket? Watching him today, it really does not look like he can. |

It's a good question actually. I looked for scores of 70+ on cricketarchive and the best I could come up with was an innings of 72 in the CC in 2007 against a Notts attack of Shreck, Adams, Franks, Swann and Patel. He seems to like Essex for some reason - four of his scores of 70 or more have come against them in the last three seasons, including two 100s.

Have reckoned for a fair while that it was only a matter of time. Was a fair criticism at the time it's made, but hopefully he goes from strength to strength now.
