Your Favorite Cricketers

This thread is not intended to evaluate the greatest players of all time. They are players who have appealed and attracted you .You feel the passion to look forward to either recall their great performances (if they have retired ) or for their performances that is current or coming up.

They may not have the Greatest Records in terms of Total Runs, Wickets, Average or Catches in their career.

Mere statistics do not always reflect the true class of players.

By keeping the criteria more open it will give us an opportunity to select player's who would have otherwise not made it to the Greatest Players Selection.

Reader’s will have one chance to Select up to 11 players as that is the number that represent a team in either One day or Tests.

This is the first stage ie identifying Your favorite players.

After the First Round( First 24 hours) Identification is done readers can post links to highlight some of the great performance of their chosen players if they want to( Not mandatory).

Remember Readers. No two persons think alike. Be tolerant not to be upset for not being able to see one or multiple favorite players of your choice in another Reader’s selection.

You have the choice of making your selection at your sole discretion.

Here is my take:

1.Sir Gary Sobers

2.Sir Vivian Richards

3.Sachin Tendulkar

4.Shane Warne

5.Imran Khan

6.Greg Chappell

7.Wasim Akram

8.Dennis Lillee

9.Sir Ian Botham

10.Saeed Anwar

11.Tamim Iqbal

Best of Luck to everyone!

Cricket, Lovely Cricket
In no particular order -

Sachin Tendulkar - like every thing about him
Rahul Dravid - like his batting style a lot.
Shane Warne - I am a leg spinner and the only reason I am is because of Warney. Pure gold. My run up is exactly the same too. :D
Adam Gilchrist - The personality
Curtley Ambrose - The best fast bowler I have seen. And I love him for that.
Brian Lara - Very stylish batsman.
Mark Waugh - The most stylish batsman I have seen.
Brett Lee - Seems down to earth which is a facet I admire in sportspersons (a major reason why I like Tendulkar and my favourite sportsperson Monica Seles so much.)
Kumarra Sangakarra - Elegant.

And one that missed out -

Hansie Cronje - The best captain I have seen. He played with the faith of his fans, his nation and the sport itself. Like Allan Donald, I feel betrayed till this day.
