The creation of a Caribbean Professional Cricket League featuring a number of top West Indies players is becoming reality as plans are beginning to take shape.

RJR Sports understands that the League will feature five teams, the Soca Warriors of Trinidad and Tobago, the Jamaican Chargers, Islanders United which will be a combined Leeward and Windward Islands team along with the Guyanese United team and the Bajan Saints of Barbados.

A challenge to the WICB apparently.

Well, if the WICB is not showing any initiative in setting up a 20/20 domestic competition to replace the Stanford competition, then why not?

Apparently it aims to work with the WICB. Supposed to be a fully professional setup with international players involved. Missed the interview with the woman involved so more when I can get it. 200 million US apparently to be invested.

And more stuff.

A five year plan is being projected for the new Caribbean Professional Cricket League.

Revenues for the league will be generated from television rights, merchandising and ticket sales.

Recognition of the league is being sought from the International Cricket Council (ICC), even though the investor
is reportedly prepared to take on the venture alone.

Additionally, each of the five teams will comprise 20 local players with each team allocated a budget ranging from US$15 to US$20 million.

Interesting to see what the WICB's stance on this is....

They have done their best to destroy cricket in the Caribbean, so I can't see them working with this group.
