I haven't seen too much test cricket in my lifetime, but of what I've seen:

India v Australia (Laxman's 281)
India v Pakistan (Kumble's 10 for)
New Zealand v West Indies (forgot most of the match but I remember Cairns's 7/27)

As you'll notice, most of my test match memories are made up of me remembering individual performances. Don't know why, but it happens.:P

Well thats right...that match back in 1999 at Hamilton between NZ & W.I

I wouldn't say it was the greatest of all time, but for entertainment it was probably a 10.

Brian Lara I think & several of the West Indian batsmen put NZ to the sword on Day One and got to 320 odd for 2 wickets then the next day NZ came back & rolled them for 360 & then proceeded to annihilate the W.I over the next 3 days.

Being as young as I am, I have missed many of the best Test Matches. Historically, I'm sure there are countless better ones, but this is the best I can do :D

I think you're mistaken. Campbell and Griffith put New Zealand to the sword on Day 1. Lara didn't bat until Day 2 I believe. We played some horrid shots on Day 2 and never recovered for the series.

An Essex player, Nasser Hussain, gets a double century :)

My favourite England player, Graham Thorpe, gets a large century :)

Australia are bowled out for 118 :)

My 2nd favourite England player, Michael Atherton, gets a fifty off just 65 balls :)

And we won by 9 wickets to take a 1-0 lead in an Ashes series. :D

A couple more...

West Indies v Australia 3rd Test 1999
Lara's 153* for a 1-wicket win.

West Indies v Zimbabwe 1st Test 2000
Walsh, Ambrose, Rose and King bowled superbly to defend just over 100 against Zimbabwe at the Queen's Park Oval.

West Indies v Zimbabwe 2nd Test 2000
Adams scored a century and Rose scored 69 as they put together that big partnership.

West Indies v Pakistan 3rd (?) Test 2000
Adams scored 49* I believe to win by 1-wicket.

West Indies v Zimbabwe = great test matches???

They may have been good entertainment but im sure the West Indies were having nervous celebrations afterwards.

Bangladesh's first ever test vs India.............Bangladesh put the Indian attack(for want of a better word) to the sword and score a mammoth 400 in their first ever innings in test cricket ( who could have imagined what was to follow over their next 18 tests! ).

India produces a splendid fightback to reduce the mighty Bongs to 90 all out in the 2nd inns and win the test..!!!
.........A splendid test match between 2 evenly matched teams

good point. how can that be good quality? sure zimbabwe may have had a fluke or 2, (most likely from the flower bros) but it wouldn't have been great.

Bazza

International 12th Man
Butcher's 173* at Headingley 2001,
Eng v WI at Lord's 2000,
Eng v SL last year was pretty good - chasing 50 in 6 overs or whatever it was.....
The 1997 Ashes Test mentioned above
Eng winning in Karachi by torchlight

Clearly you did not see the Test match. Regardless of the teams competing, a Test match can still be great because of effort and just quality of cricket played over 5 days. The Zimbabweans played with heart and Streak bowled supebly for 10. Andy Flower also got a magnificient century when his team was in trouble. The last day of that match was thrilling with Zimbabwe poised to complete a major upset in the first Test match between the two teams. Ambrose, Rose and King in particular bowled superbly.

I suggest you don't comment until you've seen it.

In the case of the second Test match, Zimbabwe had the Windies in serious trouble. Zimbabwe batted well on Day 1 with Goodwin getting a century and Andy Flower getting 60odd. Rose and King came back with the new ball and both batsmen were dismissed off consecutive deliveries after a big partnership. The next morning there was another fine exhibition of pace bowling from King and Rose but Zimbabwe made 300+ in the end. We were behind by 120odd runs with 7 down I believe. Rose and Adams came together and Adams played a superb captain's knock as the two put on 120+ runs for the 8th wicket. West Indies got a lead and Zimbabwe came back to bat with Walsh needing 3 (?) more wickets for the World Record. With 9 Zimbabwean wickets down, he steamed in to Olonga and he fended it to Hinds at short leg - a magical moment. The reason why it was so critical for him to take that wicket then was because it was his only chance to get it in Jamaica - his home country.

Once again, don't comment unless you've seen it.
