I have voted for faulkner, imran, miller and botham. feel bad to not be able to vote for kapil. but am confident these four were the best of their ilk.

Hard to keep Hadlee out if you include Pollock IMO
was sticking to a 30+ batting average and a < 35 bowling average for this. the poll options become too many if i dont divide the prelim polls. the final poll will feature the top four from here and the top two from the other poll. see the main thread for the other names.

Went Imran, Miller, Botham and Kapil Dev - tempted to give a vote to Noble and/or Woolley because I hate seeing both of them on zero.

I chose Faulkner over Kapil from your four. I almost went for Noble instead of Faulkner. I am disappointed I did not give Kapil more consideration than I did even if I did not finally chose him. On second thoughts I should have chosen Kapil too.

Suggests that the criteria are a tad over-simplifying things then.
pathan is in because we are using stats against all nations. minus minnows, he wont be there. since he alone seems to be the odd one out, i decided not to tamper with the criteria too much and left him in. his numbers are not very different from mankad's, who is definitely one of the best all-rounders of all time. so it didnt seem to be that big a crime to leave pathan in. usually, i dont have the "funny" last option in my polls. treat him as that and choose four other guys.

Althoug he has not got 5 wickets 4 times (he go 2 times), Asif Iqbal, with a batting average of 38.9 and bowling average of 28.3 certainly has a shout.

mushtaq and asif did not take 100 wickets. the list of similar post war batting allrounders who did not make the cut is endless - jayasuriya, s.waugh (both took 90+ wickets), walters, dexter etc. you would notice that even hammond from the pre war pool of players is not on the list because he didnt take enough 4 wicket hauls.

centuries and five wicket hauls are very big deeds. we are looking for 4 wicket hauls and 50s. not five-fers and hundreds. (the only cricketer who has taken 10 five wicket hauls and also scored 10 centuries is ian botham.)

kapil is now level with faulkner for the last place. imran, botham and miller are going to make it for sure.
