WICB Fires Coach - Dyson gone

So the WICB has fired John Dyson with no reason given and the assistant coach David Williams is temporarily in charge. A new story every day. Drama FTW.

While the decision does surprise, the fact it has actually happened with what is currently going on in West Indies cricket, doesn't. They seem to roll from one crisis to another, and if the England role is considered a poisoned chalice, then it is one heck of a brave man that decides to take on the West Indies job! It's not just the cricketing aspect as I think they generally have a decent standard of say about 7/8 players to work with, it's just all the politics that will make people think is it worth it ?

IMHO Dyson did a pretty good job as coach, During his tenure we have been horribly inconsistent it has to be said and our ODI performances have been poor. But we moved up the test rankings to 7th spot (before the recent replacement team ruined that good work), won a test in SA, won back the Wisden Trophy (if only briefly) and a drew an away series for the first time in ages.

These are not the greatest achievements, but in the context of modern West Indies cricket he did well.

West Indies cricket is slowly dieing. If the WICB continues down this path it is only a matter of time before the TTCB and the JCA apply for associate membership and seek to wualify as test nations. If rumors of a ban for the striking players (of up to 3 years some claim) are true, West Indies cricket is dead. Demotion from test cricket will be inevitable.

Firing Dyson is ridiculous....

It makes you wonder about the real reasons for his leaving, because as coach he has better results than any other coach for quite some time. Did Dyson threaten to walk if the strike wasn't resolved? Has the WICB run out of money to pay him?

Anything is possible, with this incompetent Hunte regime....

I thought he was doing a really good job tbh. Rebuilding was always going to be slow, but he appeared to be making real progress in spite of some serious issues.

I suspect there's more to this than first meets the eye.

If they won't strip Zimbabwe of Test status, they won't do it to the West Indies.
